Hi guys,
took the ZXR round the block a few times last week and it was absolutely spot on, parked it up in the garage, went to go fire her up yesterday and she fired up for the whole of 2 seconds before cutting out, after that all she did when I turned her over was backfire and occasionally rumble as if she was about to start.

It would only backfire with the throttle shut and choke off so I assumed it would be flooded as with any choke it just did nothing. Ive had the plug out all night + day, cleaned them up, checked for spark, heated them up and put them back in and nothing. Put some fresh fuel in yesterday, the fuel is getting through (plugs are wet when I took them out) it's getting spark but all it's doing is just turning over and over, it's not backfiring now though but still won't start

Any ideas? Just abit baffled and probably something simple but was fine last week lol

Hi

Have had this problem before, Its the battery good power to turn over the engine but just not anought for plugs as well; The modern resitor plugs do not like getting wet with feul even with cleaning heating does not work allways.. They can be sparking outside the cylinder but brake down under compression Confused

IF you charge you battery and the try with some new plugs it should run fine.. Very Happy Very Happy

Best of luck

Cheers the battery is fully charged up, but suppose it could be that still.

Did yours just need new plugs? the ones in it are pretty much brand new that's the annoying part lol

Hi

Yep just the plugs and mine where not that old like 200miles worth.. Sad

Now always take it for a min of 15-20 miles run to heat the engine up propely which cleans the plugs of any sooty deposits left buy running on choke... Then put her away for week or 2 or more:D Very Happy
Every time i come to it now starts bag on every time i always charge my battery regular when not using...

Did this problem start before or after you put the new fuel in?
It is not unknown to put diesel in a bike.

Hi

If feul was good and can was empty and clean.....

Just wondering did you wash it before you put away with hose etc so some damp has got into electrics some where...

It looks like your going to have to check all connections in wiring on the ingnition side...

I would start simple and check the kill switch is not shorting if you carnt get to the wiring for switch try a good squirt WD40 in switch on and off about 10 time and try bike..

If still not running check other connections back of coils, cdi, ignition switch etc...

It has to be something simple a bad connection as was perfect last time you rode it.....

Did it before I put the fuel in and i'm 100% sure it wasn't diesel.

It's just starting to annoy me, have checked all the electrics, sprayed them with WD etc, checked fuses.
