 |
|
I need to tighten it to 98nm (72ft-lb).
So what's the best way of locking it while i do it?
Jam the back brake on but that means a lot of stress on the chain?
The previous owner obviously wasn't sure either as the twat obviously just left it loose
Thanks

98nm is nothing compared to the strain even a bicycle chain can take. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. In summery, mattsprattuk is a gobby little sh1tebag, dopehead tw4t, but sadly for all of us, he probably isn't THAT full of sh1te!!

Put a bar/piece of timber through the rear wheel to stop it against the swing-arm. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Could just put a bit of wood through the rear wheel to stop it turning then tighten up.
As said 98Nm on a chain is nothing compared to the 100 odd bhp that it usually has to cope with. ____________________ My Flickr |

Actually it is by my reckoning but still not enough to hurt the chain. Most times it will not hold on the brake though.
A 100hp bike will be making about 65NM of torque, but final drive at say 16/41 ratio has multiplied that so you're only making 25.3nM maximum at the front sprocket as an example. Putting a torque wrench on there and pulling it to 97nM is nearly four times more pull on the chain than the bike would normally make. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
