Took my bike in to work yesterday for a change, and on my somewhat short journey home, I have to travel down an almost always empty dual carriageway. Pulled away from the lights at the start of it, past a couple of cars that had also just joined the carriageway and seeing the road ahead was empty, decided to give it some beans! Very Happy

Bad idea!

One of the 2 cars I passed was a black volvo, and had a set of funky blue flashing lights in the front grill! Thinking

As I passed them I looked down at the speedo. 120. That'll do I thought, and looked in my mirror. Said volvo was about 500 yards behind lit up like a xmas tree! I rolled off the throttle backing off to 70, and checked my mirror again expecting him to be sitting on my arse gesturing me to pull over. But no, lights were off and he was holding distance at around 100meters behind me. Praying

As we approached the roundabout at the end of the carriageway, he pulled alongside, I put my hand up to acknowledge I'd been a silly billy and he put up his thumb I can only assume for realising I'd been a bit silly and slowed down.

Very rarely do I speed out on the road, but it just goes to show how tempting an empty road with no exits or entrances can be!!

Roll on Brands tomorrow when I can really let rip!

It seems the policemen in that car are pretty sound. I bet quite a lot of the ones that ride do similar speeds on their day off and they judged that you weren't really doing anything dangerous and let you on your way.
