I've just had my bike MOTed today and it got an advisory on the "rear monoshock pivot worn but not excessive"
Now i want to replace my rear shock soon and i'm just wondering which part they are meaning whether it's the rear shock pivot shaft or the actual eye of the shock thats worn or bearings.
I want to be sure which parts to order with the shock.
Any help would be great,

isn't the pivots the top and bottem where to bolts go into were it sits?

On this bike ( xj600 diversion heap of poo) it only has one pivot point, it's a straight bolt on to the actual frame.
I'm just learning how to twirl the old spanners so i might be wrong though Embarassed

Did the tester not explain exactly what the problem was?

Most of them do. Why not give him a ring, or pop back in and clarify. Thumbs Up

I didn't even see the tester, i 've never even seen a mechanic at the place, i swear the place is run by faries and pixies lol.

Could be either.

Unless the tester can tell you. And odds on, they will not have looked that close. Only noticed the slack, and not checked where. The best bet is to remove the old parts and have a look.

It's going to be the bottom because that's probably the only one he can see as he won't dismantle anything to see the top bolt.

Usually a bearing gone, a sort of sperical ball joint type on a lot of bikes, easy to replace, it's part of the linkage rather than the shock which bolts either side of it..
