hi im in desperate need of a replacement retifier for my 2001 sv650 had a look on ebay and they seem to be pretty much the same for all the suzuki range

my question
will say a retifier of a gsxr fit on my sv or will i have to get a sv one (its got 3 in wires from the alternator and the 2 returns to the battery) is there something different from a unit thats from a 1000cc to a unit from a 600cc?

im in need a some advice please as i have had an embarrassing trip to the mot station today and need to resolve the problem quickly cheers guys Thumbs Up

Personally, I wouldnt plug another in...just your own.. probably can do..but im strange like that.. i like the original bits, makes fault finding in Haynes manual easier Razz

The reg/rec of just about any japanese bike will work on just about any other japanese bike.

The only significant differences are the wire colours and the shape/size/oirder of the connectors.

If you can work out which wire goes where, it'll work.

I'll qualify that by saying it applies to all bikes with 12V DC electrics that use a 3-phase alternator with magnets in.

There are a few exceptions but they are uncommon. Some bikes use field coil alternators which have no magnets. These generally have a seperate voltage regulator which works in a totally different way (regulates the voltage by altering the power supplied to the electromagnetic field coils) and a seperate rectifier which does not. This setup is more common on European bikes.
