 |
|
Hi Guys, Been a while since I've needed help or advice with a bike.
I've just been given a Sachs XTC Racing from a family friend as I'm due to do my CBT in a couple of weeks and needed a road bike for when (And IF) I pass.
They have had it since new '02', But hasn't been ridden since 2006. It was recently taken apart, (Rear cowelling, Tank, Fairing ETC).. Battery went flat and it was never started after.
It's liquid cooled, 2 stroke 125. I charged the battery, tried starting it and it turns over without a care in the world.. Although, I put fresh petrol and 2 stroke in it, tried it again and it just won't fire. I cleaned out the carb, jets, pipes etc.. And it still won't have any of it. I'm totally clueless when it comes to bikes.
Anyone know why? It sparks too |

Only It probably is due a rebuild. Get yourself a compression tester and test the compression, then throw some 2 stroke oil down the spark plug hole and test it again. If there is a big difference between the two tests, it's a good indication that you need to replace at least the piston rings. |
Thanks.
I've gone all out anyway now, Given the engine to a mate who works for Yamaha and he's going to do a full rebuild on pocket money.. Good boy. New crank, Rod, Rings, Piston, Seals and gaskets. I said about just buying another DT engine and he said it's better this way because I'll atleast have piece of mind with knowing the internals are brand new.
Just waiting for it to be done now, Lonnnngggg. |
