Hi

Does anyone have a rough price for a 20,000 mile service on a 05 Yamaha FZ6, I think its due to have the valves adjusted, as it is starting to make a slight ticking noise.

Thanks
Ed

Depends where you take it! tbh i would do it all myself, valves arent hard to do if you have the tools!

The service is supposed to be at 24,000 miles, not 20,000.

300 quid ish to get the shims looked at. Also depends on how many shims need to be replaced and not exchanged.

The rest is easy enough to do yourself.

Valve clearances are every 42k Kilometers, so 26,250 miles. The actualt check is so easy to do, rocker cover off, remove blanking plate to turn engine over and remove spark plugs. A set of feeler guages and away you go.

If you're paying someone else to do it, it shouldn't cost more than £200 tops, unless you're getting other things done at the same time. Also ask for the old shims, if they replace any.

Cheers

Grim

Its shim under bucket so the cams have to come out and the head but be partially disassembled so its not that easy unfortunately.

Unless I'm missing something, surely the clearances can be checked without dismantling the engine and removing the cams??

Cheers
