Basically im a CAD technician. I have mechanical knowledge and experience. I have passed my HNC in mechanical engineering, i can use 2D very well, 3D im getting there. Ive had about 7 years experience in CAD, 4-5 years in mechanical field.
Im currently in a role that requires me to do some design, then get it down on a CAD drawing, mainly 2D, 3D stuff is very rare.
Here's the thing, i want another job as my place is going no where fast, bad management and no training.
When looking on the net and stuff all i can search for is mechanical design, 2D as im not an expert on 3D yet. My mind is being very specific and im not finding much.
Bit of a long shot i guess but im after ideas for other types of work i could maybe have a crack at. Im basically a mechanical engineer who has some practical experience, 20-25K salary bracket.
Thanks ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

That kind of work is THIN on the ground at the moment mate and if you do find some advertised work, chances are it'll be for short termers i.e contractors. I'd suggest that although you should always keep an ear to the ground, resign yourself to the fact that there may not be many decent vacancies until the start of 2011. Infact, what I'd do is try and get past an HNC if you feel that it might help you for the future. I know I can't really get anywhere at the moment (even if I wanted to) so am starting my MSc in Sustainable Energy, distance learning, to fill the void.
And that's from a mechanical design engineer (construction) who always keeps an eye on the job market.
Best of luck though. |

I want something closer than i have now.
No interest in work overseas.
Im looking for any ideas of jobs i can maybe cross over to without much pay cut, maybe im asking for too much.
I think ill continue on the road im on now and hopefully my next placement will make me happier. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.
