RS 125 Powervalve

Hey all, I recently have brought an aprilia rs 125 2002 model, It is fully derestricted including the cdi unit. I am having trouble with the powervalve, its supposed to kick in at 8000rpm and give a real kick, but when i get to this magic number nothing happens. It just revs theres is no real speed increase and it sounds like im strangling the engine. I can feel the powervalve at low revs because when i get to about 5000rpm theres a boost in power to about 6500rpm. Does anyone know what the problem could be, thanks

also forgot to add, i took of fthe powervalve housing and started up the bike. i could see the powervalve moving in and out on low revs and when i took to my local garage they said its working perfectly fine. Dont know how i could have forget to tell you this... must be tired lol. is it possible for it to work at low revs and then not at high revs thanks

Hi,
check the pv is actually working when it should.
lift the tank & start it up. (i usually do this with a remote fuel tank & battery box removed cos its easier)
you should see the pv cable move at around 2000rpm doing its "self cleaning thing"
then it should move again at 7800rpm.
you should be able to see this happening, especially if you get the fuel tank out the way.
if its not moving when it should, try adjusting the bowden cable.
