Aprillia rs125 idling problem?

I recently got myself a second hand rs125, and its idling seems really odd. It either idles really high (5k+) or so low that it just cuts out.

Is this a common problem and anyone know why it happens?

could be a vast number of reasons, the mixture settings might be off, when was it last rebuilt?

hi,
have actually tried adjusting the idle?
or has someone been playing around with it?
take the carb off.
give it a good clean & blow throw with compressed air.
(while its apart,take a note of what jets are in it)
re-assemble & return to stock settings,. (needle clip on 2nd notch & air/mixture screw 2 & 1/2 turns out,iirc)
turn the idle adjuster screw all the way in & then back it out a bit.
get it warmed up, & then keep unscrewing idle screw until you get it to around 1200rpm.
check/clean the air filter while your at it.
chuck a new spark plug in & then plug chop.
