Electrical problem - CB250RS

I'm prepping the CB for MOT and there's a problem with the lights and indies. It's a kickstart '81 CB250RSA.

Headlight will not come on
Bulb is intact, and will light up when the 'PASS' button is held
All fuses intact
also
Just replaced the parking light (tiny bulb) as the filament was blown, but that isn't coming on either
also
indicators all work and flash normally on tickover, with any revs they dim/come on and stay on (not flashing).

I am charging the battery now to see if that helps, any other ideas I may have overlooked? Or is it simply a battery issue?

Hi

Doubt the issue with the lights is the battery given they work when the passing light is pressed. However would need a wiring diagram to confirm this.

However a dodgy battery and charging system could well be the issue with the indicators.

Annoyingly, the Haynes manual and wiring diagram are what the seller forgot to bring with the bike so I don't have them at the moment.

Will have a look for an online wiring diagram.

Hi

Looking at that it looks like the passing switch is wired directly to an output from the regulator / rectifier unit without a fuse.

The main switch takes a feed from the same feed, but then passes the supply via a fuse.

Think you will need to probe with a multimeter. First step would be to check for voltage at the fuse.
