Hi all

I had a friend weld the frame on my CX500 last saturday,I took the usual precautions of removing battery and disconnecting the reg/rect unit from the frame aswell as un-plugging it from the wiring loom.after the work was done,I put everything back togeher and rode the bike home.it went fine with no problems, however, the next day was a diffrant story.I took the bike on a 7 mile journey and after the first mile the bike began to run like it was running out of fuel.I switched over to reserve as I knew I was getting low, but, the bike still coffed and splutterd like the fuel wasnt getting through.

anyway......

I just got to where i was going and the engine just cut out on me.I spent a good 10 mins turning it over before giving up and leaving it for an hour.I tried again after an hour, but still it wouldnt fire up.I took a spare spark plug out from under the seat and checked to see if i was getting a spark,it was very weak if anything.it was then after having the seat up that I noticed that I had not connected the reg/rect unit.I connected it to see if it would work but still bugger all! I left the bike for another hour and after a lot of head scratching,i went for another try.the damn thing started at the press of the button!!!! I stopped it with the cut off switch and tried it starting it again,it wouldnt even fire!!!!

Sorry for the long winded story, but does anyone here have a clue??? any help would be appreciated as im missing my wheels already......thanks in advance Smile

check the connections to the ignitior and coils are clean and properly connected.

Had a mates bandit 400 do the same due to a little corrosion on a block connector. It was ok until he disconnected and reconnected it and that moved the corrosion enough to provide enough seistance to cause issues.
