If you are a UK student at college or uni, you can get windows 7 home or pro for just £30.

https://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/studentoffer/default.aspx

Bargain compared to retail price of pro which is £189.99!

If you are a computer science student at uni you can get any microsoft software for free via MDSNAA. If they didn't give us free windows, we'd all use linux and sound would you all eventually. Microsoft would be bankrupt in 5 years. If it weren't true, why are microsoft giving me everything for free? Razz

Got enough problems with Vista, why would anyone voluntarily double them by getting Windows 7. Students need a reliable computer not a pile of junk that loses all their work and causes huge stress.

If you're going to move to Windows 7 you'll most likely have to reinstall everything on your PC:

...because Windows 7 is a fixed version of Vista!

Of course this is a M$ version of fixed.
They've tinkered with a few things and apparently it is better (as in faster, reliable, etc.).

Just been told that you're classed as a student if you have a valid email address ending in .ac.uk

Haven't actually checked yet but sounds reasonable and I'd believe who told me.
