You have started a thread about a conversation between you and some ned and what - are you really asking someone else to finish it for you? I'm slightly confused Do you want to buy the car or have you just been spamming up his ad thread somewhere?
He does have a bit of a point though. My mother always seems to bugger her cars before their time by never exceeding 3500 rpm and always being in too high a gear. That said obviously the reverse will be be equally if not more detrimental to the health of an engine.
Seeing as that is what you are accusing him of maybe you should point that out to him? ____________________ Harold_Shand wrote: I suppose it's like anything, you get your fingers burned when you start out, you learn from it and eventually become a complete arsehole about the whole thing. |

anyway ..i cant think of anything cnutish enough to say back.. mainly because i dont really know fck all about cars. (as delvey91 will know)!.. Is he right or not? I'm assuming it's only in extreme cases where opening it up with 'clear the valves' etc not on a crappy little fiesta/zetec or whatever the funk it is and he's just giving an excuse to drive like a nob.?..
Anyway.. if he's so concerened about keeping his engine good.. he would have had the engine balanced/fuelling set up correctly etc for the engine to run properly with the lump of metal he's got bolted on the end of his zorst?..or this only mainly with bikes?.... |

I'm told that the TDI engines used in VAG cars need a good ragging to stop the turbo vanes sooting up. The chap in question on the TDI forum goes so far as to say that once you're warmed up you should be shifting at 3,000rpm (redline is 5,000).
For a Transit van, maybe, but a 110bhp car it seems a bit much. Tis fun, though. ____________________ Previous: 2002 Honda CB500 (sold), 2007 Suzuki SV650SK6 (crashed), 2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer (sold). Currently bikeless

That's 100% bullshit !
The piston reaches TDC on every single stroke.. regardless of how many revolutions per minute it's doing.
