https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FERRARI-D-O-H-C-MOTORCYCLE-UNIQUE-OPPORTUNITY_W0QQitemZ170379706925QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycles?hash=item27ab6c022d&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Was honestly just searching ebay for prices of a motorbike within my tastes and this came up Shocked mind is blown.

I had no idea something like this existed. Discussion: is this worth the money?

If you didn't bother to click the link, "FERRARI D.O.H.C - MOTORCYCLE - UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY!!", Price: £249,991.00!

Looks alright, apart from the GSXRm headlights. No way is it worth 1/4 of a million though even though it is a one off. No doubt they'll get that for it though.

I see the 48-cylinder bike is finally off eBay. Think it was advertised at 1/4 million also.

Don't you people know viral marketing when you see it?

Clearly not or you wouldn't have posted.

He put a bike up at an extortionate price because people will notice and post threads on forums and email one another to talk about it.

When they do so, they will also look at the other stuff he has for sale. Like you just did.

He does not intend to sell the bike, it is not worth the asking price, it is a ploy to make you tell all your mates about it so they look at his other items. It worked.

EDIT: Triumph are shit hot at viral marketing. You've all seen the "How they make a rocket 3" video yeah?

I also know for a fact that when they have a new model coming out, they arrange for it to be "seen" parked up at a motorway service station so they get "spy shots" on the front page of MCN instead of paying thousands for an advert. I know the guy whose job it was to cut the nibs off the tyres and push it round in the dust a bit so it looks like it's been ridden before they load it in the van.

Wouldn't it have been easier just to put some part worn tyres on originally? Or just ride it to the service station - more 'spy' shots then, off randomers = bigger viral marketing.

Might well have been easier but nevertheless that's what they did.

Often the bike was just a mockup anyway, couldn't be ridden even if they wanted to.

I'm not disagreeing with you,

but if you look at the place where the pictures of this "quarter million pound" bike was taken it is exactly the same place as all of their other vehicles being sold on ebay. Therefore this shop really does have access to this bike.

I'm not saying that they're even definitely selling the bike or anything or that they're going to get the asking price for it, but this bike exists and a lot of people are going to think that's interesting in some way.

Did you know there was a Ferrari branded bike out there (even if it's "ugly")?

Also, its not an RR (or SP as he calls it). Its the standard P model road going frame, not the N model (RR).

Granted it does have alot of race kit parts on it, but its just a stock P chassis. WAY overpriced.

Thumbs Up
