Hi, I was looking for advice and this seemed like the most active forum.
I live in France and when you're 16, you can pass your A1 test which allows you to use anything up to 125cc.
I have been doing lots of research as I am not someone who just rushes into buying something, but I could do with some informed opinions.
I currently have a 50cc Gilera Runner scooter which is OK, but I'd like something manual, faster and well, better looking
I will be using the bike to commute five days a week, around 15-25 (depends) miles (there and back) five days a week. So obviously, the bike has to be reliable, this is why I have sadly eliminated two stroke options.
I'd like the bike to be capable of cruising at 60-65mph without has to thrash it's bollocks off. The roads I use are mostly straight (lots of Roman roads in France), with slight inclines and declines.
My budget is around £800 although I can go above that, I'd rather not. If it is definitely worth spending more, please say.
I've been looking at a number of bikes, and I was very interested in an MZ RT 125 on eBay, but unfortunately someone bought it before the auction's end.
Thanks! |

Don't eliminate 2 strokes altogether.. i think you'll find they're just as reliable if well maintained as any 4 stroke engine, cheaper to repair when they do go wrong.
That and some of the best looking 125cc bikes are 2 strokes.
A Yamaha DT125R could do what you said and they're bullet proof so long as you check your 2 stroke oil and water levels. If you find an older one 91plate onwards you'll be laughing.
Failing that if you want to be able to cruise on a 4 stroke 125 at 60-65 either an old CBR125 or something like a CG but that'll be screaming to be honest at those speeds.
Just my opinion but i'm sure some will disagree. ____________________ Previously; Honda XR125 - Yamaha DT125r - Aprilia Rs125 - Suzuki GS500e, Currently; Kawasaki ZX6R + ZX10R

I think I found a great deal.
What do you think of this bike?

Translation:
I'm selling my NSR 125 from 2003. It is very clean and works very well. It is equipped with an alarm and a distance start (What is that?)
There is a dent on the tank and a light scratch on one side.
I spoke to him on the phone, it's done 13000km. He has replaced the exhaust pipe, but he said he hadn't touched anything else. It does 160km/h (So is it still restricted at all?)
I managed to get him down to €700 very easily, so I'm going there with €650 cash tomorrow, I can whip out another €50 if I really have to.
So, what do you think. |
