Be funny if the moon isn't as stable as they thought and ends up being obliterated.

Either that or the rocket might suffer a guidance failure and land on Iran Wink

Maybe it is to cover up the fact that the US never went to the moon.

"Damn...we had a technical malfunction and our missile impacted at exactly the same spot the Appollo mission landed! What are the chances of that?"

Looks like they have mad_mushroom doing their press releases:

What can we as surrealists or lunatics or astrologers or naturalists or anarcho-primitivists or Greens or werewolves or pagans or psychics or UFO groupies or other concerned members of the general public do?

We must soothe the Moon, we bandage her. We implore other celestial bodies and entities to aid her. We will not let her endure this crime or its grim aftermath alone.

We need to communicate to the Moon. Talk to her in our dreams, trances, or meditations, and prepare her for this shock and wound as best we can. Hold her, send out imaginative protection to her, and put our dream bodies out there in front of the bomb. Collectively, we can sabotage the bombing or by imagining all manner of things going wrong, or encouraging the Moon to increase her own magnetic shields. Sing to her. Give her back just a tiny portion of all that she has done for us. We are all created from Moon dust.

What ever happened to " We come in peace" ?
More like, we bomb the fuck out of you and see what's left. Send up the Time Team with Baldrick in a space suite to see how they would have lived if we had left them alone.
Mars is on stand by for the next attack.

There is no 'bomb' as such. There will be no explosion, they are just going to impact it with a missile. As the moon gets bombarded with meteors every day, its not going to make much difference. Wink Thumbs Up

There must be some difference, otherwise surely those impacts could be looked at instead of NASA needing to make their own?

The NASA TV stream seems to be down annoyingly. Sad

They need their impact to happen at a specific time, when the probe will be in place to analyse the dust thrown up. And they're aiming at a specific place too, where there's more chance of finding water.

Well E.T. should be happy then, knowing it was just a missile that destroyed his little space home and not a bomb.

Laughing Was listening to Terry Wogan on Radio 2 this morning (as you do!) and he said NASA were going to crash a 'Transit van' into the moon! Wink Laughing

Well that was thrilling..................... not

E.T. is now setting up an experiment to see what happens if he slams two Ford Cortinas on the White House. Just need to make sure he puts it on youtube.

Just been reading some replys on other sites

Quote:
The moon is a huge water balloon. If they pop it with a bomb it'll burst, the water will fall into Earth's atmosphere, heat up on entry and turn to steam, which will cook us all. Please stop NASA.

I heard on the radio that they were hailing the mission as 'as success'.

Well done NASA for successfully crashing a spaceship into a planet!

Personally, I have the notion it might be an arse-covering excersise. Say you intend to crash into the moon and no-one gets the tin-tack when it actually happens.

It would be interesting if a slice of moon slowly drifted away.
