Sit down quietly and I'll begin
I've bought a mildly ropey Moto Guzzi V50 to play around with/do up.
I thought ,unlike previous projects, I would do this one in a slow logical manner getting it MOT'd then doing a bit at a time, rather than stripping it down into it's smallest components then wondering how they all fit back together.
By last Sunday all I needed for the test was new shocks, a banjo bolt(new Nissin front caliper) and brake fluid.(and some wire wool to shove up the exhausts)
So whilst the 5year son old watched Star Wars (again) I logged on and ordered the parts from M&P and got back an order confirmation.
Driving home on Tuesday I was expecting an evening of spanners(joy) and bleading brake lines(not joy) and an MOT on Saturday. But the goods weren't there, I had expected them to be picked and dispatched on Monday for Tuesday delivery.
I did get an E-mail sent at 17:01 saying they expected them in on Saturday-I wouldn't get them for another week -I sent a polite one in return saying I was p***** off as now the bike couldn't be MOT'd and they had taken 2 days to tell me this, now It would be difficult to find some more in time.
They phoned me this morning and the conversation went something like this.
"the website didn't tell me you were out of stock, no mention in the E-mail confirming my order and it's taken you 2 days to tell me"
"it's impossible for the website to tell you stock levels, we don't hold the stock it's taken us 2 days to load the order and phone our suppliers"
"Wemoto show availability on their website"
"yes we buy stuff off Wemoto, we don't show availability because we would loose a lot of sales as people wouldn't order because we don't have the stock"
"I wouldn't have ordered If i knew you didn't have stock and wouldn't have for over a week"
"you see what I mean we would loose a lot of orders if people knew we didn't have stock"
I gave up it wasn't the lack of stock that upset me ,it was taking 2 days to tell me but as they pointed out if they had told me they would have lost a sale.-Which they did anyway.

p.s. anybody know a shop in south or west London who would have a 10x1.25 single banjo bolt on the shelf?or know what one is without a Honda part number!
p.p.s. they did offer me some 325mm forks(305 are standard) which in his 20 years biking experience would do.-I've only got 18 years but 5 of them were as a courier and they are like dog years and count as 7 each.
p.p.p.s.yes I'll find Sickpups site when I've finished reconditioning the old shocks.

It grinds my gears when online shops pull that kind of shit on you.
The best one is when they take the order then find they can't actually get the part. Then they don't bother telling you, just wait until you call up asking where it is "Oh, it's on back-order."
Bicycle shops are the worst for it, I've taken to calling them up and asking if they have the part there and then. If they don't, no order. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

I've had the same thing from M&P (and Busters, as I believe they are pretty much the same company) I only order from them if I can't find the thing I want anywhere else.
The one I use the most is probably www.intobikes.co.uk. ____________________ MKGaming.com

I've had M&P alter parts orders too. Try ordering parts for a non-standard bike. Particularly chain and sprockets.
Wanted a chain and sprockets for my KLE/GPZ500 hybrid once.
I ordered a KLE front sprocket, a GPZ rear sprocket and a 104 link, 520 pitch, heavy duty NON O-ring chain. The guy on the phone said they don't recommend plain chains for that bike but I told him that's absolutely what I wanted (I was doing an experiment *).
What arrived was a Standard KLE front and rear sprocket and a 106 link, o-ring chain.
*Viz, I reckon for winter use when there is a lot of grit on the road, the flushing action of a scotoiler through a plain chain will keep it in better nick than an o-ring one all crudded up with fine sand. Never got to find out. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

I ordered an intercom once (forget where from). Forgot about it. Then 5-6 weeks later I check my bank statements and they've taken the money. I ring up the shop to be told the intercom hadn't actually gone into production yet and it would be another 4 months! |

Uh oh I just ordered something from M&P on Sunday
I have the best story: I ordered something off Spareshack on the 30th of September and since then nothing at all has happened. I phoned a million times and no one answers, emailed and no reply and sent a message through the site and still bugger all. Luckily no money has left the account...yet ____________________ Bikes : 2006 CBR125R - 2004 Monster 620ie - 2004 ZX-6R B1H - 2005 Monster S2R 800 - 2011 Street Triple - 2009 Streetfighter 1098 - 2014 ZX-6R 636
