Went karting today, tried my new MiniDV on it ... the footage is a bit wavy, but to be honest, its a pretty harsh environment and a £23 camera isn't really going to have any image stabilisation is it!! Wink

It is only ~2.5mins ... and I suggest you watch right to the end!! Shocked

It hasn't finished processing the better quality yet ... EDIT: there you go, it has done it now, watch it again!! Wink

It is only a £23 camera, but the raw footage is much better .... youtube always munches the quality ... seems even more of a munch on this one for some reason Thumbs Down

No.23 was getting a bit of a shift on.
Were all the Karts identical, or was he just a better driver/you and the chap in black/yellow are shit?

He may have been better too, but #23 was in a 'Rotax Max', not even taking into account chassis advantages, they are 125cc LC engines and produce about 50% MORE power than the karts my mate (ahead of me in the vid) and I run, which are for all intents and purposes the same!! Thumbs Up

To be honest the fun for me isn't in achieving the lap record, its about going out there and mixing it with my mate/s like I was in the vid Thumbs Up ... there was lots of chasing and passing over the day so it was a great fun, not been karting for a few months so even more-so ... slightly marred by the ending mind Embarassed

Expected that might happen while watching the vid, sounded geared too high for the straight.

Havent use my TKM BT82 for years!

What is the going rate for a carting session? I am trying to get a group of us together from school to have a go. These are the people I am looking at Teamworks and about £50 seems to be the price.

Give Sutton Elms circuit a ring, they are based near Hinkley, not far off the m69 on the A5.

My Dad normally organises a group from his workplace to go there and are always happy with the service and karts themselves Thumbs Up

Badly maintained rental karts can ruin a day for you all, been there done that many times!

It was pulling just shy of 15k at the fastest part of the track, according to TKM, the motor is capable of "15500rpm sustained, 16000 blip" so I wasn't incorrectly geared/rev-happy!! Wink

I do owner-driver and it is £40/day (£30 members). On sat I had 6 7min sessions and 1 4min session ... so about 3/4hr total tracktime for ya money.

Presumably you want 'hire karts'??? if so I have no idea of costs - sorry Sad
