hi all, got a problem on the zx6r (a1p), it seems i have no dipped headlight and am currently blinding every mofo on the road

im sure before the light on the right would come on when i put the light switch to the middle setting now it dosn't come on unless i put it on high beam, i thought it might be a bulb for both dipped and high beams so i bought a new bulb but still getting the same problem,

when i put the switch to the middle only the pointless little light in the middle comes on

can anyone help?

sorry if that sounds like a load of jibberish lol

If both bulbs are out, on dip, then sounds like the relay is knackered; there is one relay for dip and another one for full.

Hmm, the switch to the middle will only put the position light on; fully left, the switch will either put DIP on, or FULL beam , depending on the position of the switch on the left switch cluster.

Can't think where it's located, could be on the back of the bracket that holds the clocks Confused

Not sure, mine never had any of that so just used std relays from halfords

Only two things it can be now;

1) There is a break in the wiring from the switch circtuit to the relay

2) There is a break in the wiring from the light circuit side of the relay

Do you have access to a multimeter so that you can measure voltages or resistance?

One quick test would be to take the two connectors off the relay that go to the light and short them together; if the lights come on, then the problem lies with the switching circuit, if they don't come on, then there is a problem with the lighting side.

Hopefully not Karma

A bit of time and patience/perseverance will hopefully see it identified.

A (cheap) multimeter will make it considerably easier though Thumbs Up
