i am an utter idiot if anyone can realte to this??
i just bought the brand new 650sak9 bandit had it 4 days, and guess what....dropped the bugger!!
i was mounting the curb (keeping in mind new tyres and it was pissing it down and the curbn is really old type one so its slippy as bugger when wet) to get into my front garden, and the bike just slipped from the front end
i instantly just dived under the bike to protect it...as you do
i got away with a light scracth on engine casing, a little one on exhaust (which i will probs be getting new one next year anyways, stooopid silenced suzuki exhaust) teh main damage was brake lever snapped off at the very end

ive had the thing 4 bloody days, just my luck!!

I know 2 people that dropped brand new bikes the day they bought them.

One dropped it (R1) 20 minutes from the shop because he bought it from DK and they hadn't aligned the back wheel! It was well out. Of course they said it was out due to the impact and it was fine when he took it away. (He had loads of trouble with them over that bike).

One dropped a XJR1300 due to the weight I think on his drive way.

It happens. Karma

Not me but my dad spent months rebuiling a fzr - full fairings, looked like new. He went to give it a test run, did a u-turn and the engine stalled. Couldn't catch it and down it went Sad

Makes me glad my bike doesn't have any fairings to damage. All I got from my small off was a scratched exhaust and a dodgy right side mirror!

Your bike still does all the (useful) things it did before you dropped it, so I wouldn't worry about it Smile.

This is how my brand new bike looked after it's first ride (dropped twice too):

It's fourth ride or so was to a very muddy Hare and Hounds race, which I entered on it Smile.

You don't look at a bike while you're riding it, so looks don't matter!

Could be worse, a week after I got my bike brand new I went to Westgate Road in Newcastle. Went in bought jacket for £350 then went out and dropped bike. Had to get help from couple of blokes to lift it as feeling really wierd, anyway eventually rode home and spent next few days in bed feeling rough!

Turns out that you do not always know when you have a heart attack, didn't find out for a week and on the way home was first time I risked breaking running in guidelines! Sure 105 is within limits in Geordieland!

I had my GT550 about a week before I pulled off with the chain still through the rear wheel. Got about a foot, heard the crumpling sound of my rear mudguard buckling, and fell over.

Ouch Embarassed No surprise you couldn't lift it though, it's quite a steep hill. Nice little biker community though, especially over the weekend.

I dropped my first bike on my drive way loads of times! My current bike (the CG) I've only dropped once so far, about 2 weeks ago actually. I leaned on it after forgetting that I had only just taken it off of it's centre stand. Go figure. I had even started her up already and she was idling quite nicely on her side on the floor Confused

No harm done though. Now to try and not get distracted by talking to friends while attempting to go on my way.

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

Laughing i remember that.

Just filling up my tank when i hear a *CRACK* and put it down to a backfire....

Go over to you and oh no, your mirror is all bent, fairing cracked, and your exhaust bent.... then there was the issue of getting to yours without a front brake Laughing

Nice one man Thumbs Up

Yeah, if you've been here long you'll already know about my CG.... abused more than it was used...

Had a stunning 916 some years back, real minter.

was on a BMF ride out to Hastings and pulled into a service station for a fuel up along with about 30 odd others, filled up and moved bike to the side and for a chat with the other blokes, decided to make a move so start up the Duc and let it tick over warming up the fat V-Twin with the 50mm termi's shaking the ground, next thing it shakes its self off the cottage cheese Ducati spring loaded side stand Evil or Very Mad and me and 4-5 other blokes dive to save it but no one got there. SMASH over it goes and lands half on a kerb!!!

nose cone/screen/light/indicator smashed
clutch lever snapped
gear selector snapped
