I know 2 people that dropped brand new bikes the day they bought them.
One dropped it (R1) 20 minutes from the shop because he bought it from DK and they hadn't aligned the back wheel! It was well out. Of course they said it was out due to the impact and it was fine when he took it away. (He had loads of trouble with them over that bike).
One dropped a XJR1300 due to the weight I think on his drive way.
It happens. |

I had a brand new Firestorm a few years back, only had that about a week and I set off with the disc lock still on!!
worst was I had to do it with three lads from work watching me!! ____________________ I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realise that what you heard is not exactly what I meant |

Not me but my dad spent months rebuiling a fzr - full fairings, looked like new. He went to give it a test run, did a u-turn and the engine stalled. Couldn't catch it and down it went
Makes me glad my bike doesn't have any fairings to damage. All I got from my small off was a scratched exhaust and a dodgy right side mirror! |

Your bike still does all the (useful) things it did before you dropped it, so I wouldn't worry about it .
This is how my brand new bike looked after it's first ride (dropped twice too):

It's fourth ride or so was to a very muddy Hare and Hounds race, which I entered on it .
You don't look at a bike while you're riding it, so looks don't matter! |

I had my GT550 about a week before I pulled off with the chain still through the rear wheel. Got about a foot, heard the crumpling sound of my rear mudguard buckling, and fell over. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. I dropped my first bike on my drive way loads of times! My current bike (the CG) I've only dropped once so far, about 2 weeks ago actually. I leaned on it after forgetting that I had only just taken it off of it's centre stand. Go figure. I had even started her up already and she was idling quite nicely on her side on the floor
No harm done though. Now to try and not get distracted by talking to friends while attempting to go on my way. ____________________ will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.
ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston? |

Had a stunning 916 some years back, real minter.
was on a BMF ride out to Hastings and pulled into a service station for a fuel up along with about 30 odd others, filled up and moved bike to the side and for a chat with the other blokes, decided to make a move so start up the Duc and let it tick over warming up the fat V-Twin with the 50mm termi's shaking the ground, next thing it shakes its self off the cottage cheese Ducati spring loaded side stand and me and 4-5 other blokes dive to save it but no one got there. SMASH over it goes and lands half on a kerb!!!
nose cone/screen/light/indicator smashed
clutch lever snapped
gear selector snapped |
