total novice when it comes to mechanics..This may seem a bit noob.But can you tell me how check the oil levels on my varadero 125 please.is there a dipstick like a car etc.and how often should i change the oil filters and plugs..bike did not have the user manuals with it.

Usually there is a oil level sight on the side of the engine.
Hold the bike upright on as flat ground as possible...let the engine warm up and just check the oil level.

oil levels should be checked cold!!!!

as said already, flat ground check levels, if you have changed oil AND filter check level and run it for a few seconds to get the oil into the filter etc.

then re check it, only needs like 10 seconds or so run time.


as far as workshop manuals go mate, i have been looking since 2005 so good luck on that one, might have to stump up the £30-45 for a honda one....

You could try here: PDF Database which lists a service manual for download, I can't say what it's like as the linked sites want you to login, and as I don't need to I didn't but it might be of some use.

If in doubt change your oil every 3,000 miles and oil filter and plugs every 6,000.

EDIT: Just got home and checked BIKE Oct '06 which lists the service schedule as 2,500 miles minor/major, so that's oil every 2,500 miles and oil filter and plugs every 5,000 miles.
