Hey kids,

I've always liked bikes but since learning to drive a car, i knew i couldn't afford both bike and car (due to being 22 in the high risk male group etc. which means i get destroyed by insurance quotes).

A mate of mine on these forums (who i'm sure will make himself known) after doing his CBT and looking to buy a bike and leathers it kinda renewed my wanting of a bike.

i've only just found out that i don't need to do the bike theory before the CBT so i'm going to scrape some money together to buy it...

...ANYWAY... what i was meaning to ask was what does everyone do in the winter.... do you ride all though the year, or do some of you have cars and swap halway through the year. (i'm sure anyone with a decent job can afford both so this is kind of a stupid question).

Hello and welcome Thumbs Up

I still ride through winter myself, whenever my job will allow it ( have a company van ). Just wrap up warm, take a bit more care, and it is still pleasurable.

I lost all interest in cars when I started to ride. A great example of this is I got myself a new car about three months ago and the first time I have driven it was last night and that was only because I had to pick a kitten up. Hated every second of it, I felt cramped and restricted and almost claustrophobic.

hi and welcome Thumbs Up

I've recently passed my CBT and I take my bike pretty much everywhere.

I plan to ride through the winter season come rain or shine but as soon as the snow and ice come out to play, I am going to take the car.

I ride in winter (still on a 125 at the moment, will have a bigger bike come the summer) as I have to commute to and from uni, and doing that in a car takes hours!

What bike are you planning on getting? Good luck with the cbt. Thumbs Up

thanks for the replies guys.

Although i'm 22 and able to get a bigger one by doing the derestricted licence i'm going to get just a 125 to get myself comfortable with the bikes before getting a larger one... is this a good idea?

as to what model i'm unsure... everyone's got different opinions etc. i have to say on looks alone i'm not fond of cruisers (i'm not as against them as some people i know who seem to literally hate anyone who rides one) but ye...

oh and shhh mues, i like my car, i couldn't give it up completely..........yet......... ;]

I bike in the winter all year around. Layers, that's the only key. It's all too easy to overheat truth be told.

And welcome! Thumbs Up
