the zx7r i bought had a slightly messy electrics for indicators and im now sorting it out. now iv'e found a problem, basically if my clocks are plugged in all the indicators flash at the same time, yet if i disconect one of the cables for the clocks the indicators are fine.

its the brown one, if its plugged in it will cause all indicators to flash at the same time together, if its unplugged indicators are fine but obviously means the clocks wont work properly.
suggestions? ____________________ Current Bikes RVF400 - 94

Could be a bad earth connection.
On the assumption there is a yellow on black wire in that block, try running a flying wire from the back of the terminal the yellow on black goes into (jam it in the back of the connector block so it is making contact with the terminal) to a good frame earth and see if the problem goes away. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. My bad, it won't be the earth from the clocks themselves. I just had a look at a wiring diagram off the net and to be honest, it's a wonder they all don't do this. A lot is left to wishful thinking with the way the flasher repeater circuit works.
If you take the bulb out of the dashboard flasher repeater light with the clocks connected up, the flashers should work normally.
This being the case, it is probably a bad earth on the indicators themselves.
If you follow the yellow and black back from either of the front flashers, the two wires attached directly to the flashers will connect into the loom with bullet connectors. Probably not these but check them anyway.
Keep following the yellow on black back a bit more and there will be a second bullet connector designed to allow you to remove the fairing without actually having to detach both flashers (near a connector block with the headlamp wiring in it). Even money says that is not making good contact.
Circled on picture. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Yes, just to test the principle. If it is a bad earth on the indicators, this should return them to normal function. If it is a wierd earthing fault/short on the dash lights, or some other wiring bodgery elsewhere, it wont.

You have to have white light shining onto the plate when the lights are on, nothing specified about having a dedicated bulb, where or how bright it has to be. If the tail light is directly above it, carefully drilling or melting a hole in the bottom of the lens (directly over the plate) and filling it in with some clear setting epoxy so some white light hits the plate is good enough. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. indicators are really the only hurdle iv'e got now, fairings are going to get repaired soon, parts ariving soon to replace damaged bits.
only problem is logbook will take yonks
would the bike fail an mot if the indicators didnt flash on the dash? ____________________ Current Bikes RVF400 - 94

The wiring is fucked up if that is happening.
If it were me, I'd rip all the flasher wiring out* from the switch forwards and redo it so it is like the diagram I posted.
Almost certainly quicker in the long run.
*Or disconnect it all and run new wires in. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
