new to this site so thought id start a progress thread, comments and crit always welcome

Bought with a mere 1600miles on 6 months back before passing my test, first bike i've ever had, silly some may think but i can take everything in my strides and i'm not comfortable and happy on it.

how it was when i got it.

2001 model, 1 owner and 1660 miles on the clock when i bought it, got it for a great price, only downside being the forks were pitted to hell making them leak.

ebay pics

Hadn't passed my test so did a few minor things to keep me interested.
Tinted double bubble screen
R&G crash protectors

passed my test so bought some new forks with K-tec internals, also got a Art can for £60, not too shabby, cleaned it up and came up great, good old autosol Wink

still waiting on my smoked tail light with integrated indicators, but wanted to fit it all back together and won't take 5 mins to rip apart again. tail tidy needs another coat of paint where i've scuffed it fitting it but overall very happy with its fit!

future plans are decent filter, dynojet and get the wheels powder coated after xmas as my DIY job isn't up to standard.

Cheers for looking

I strangely love the wheels!

Looks nice. What else you got planned for the bike?

How much you pick it up for?

picked it up for £1880, needed new forks mind, but they set me back less than £100 with ktec internals, so all in all less than £2000. it had been dry stored for all the years it hadnt been ridden, still got the original receipt and know the lad who sold it through the dealership. fella basically bought it, rode it for a summer and became ill so was the last thing on his mind. his loss....my gain. really need some fresh tyres too as its still on the originals!

Excellent choice of bike mate, seem to be very popular on here especially with newer riders.
The wheels have totally ruined it for me but hey, it looks like you drive a yellow car too so you obviously like bizzarre colours Laughing

Thumbs Up

Pitted forks will be the downside of having a low mileage bike, been as its sat around for a period of time Laughing

Looks good though! Seems there are a fair few people with J models on here Thumbs Up

Very nice. It's pretty shoddy that the fork legs would be ruined with just 1800 miles, even if it has been stored for a while.

Did you have some of that paint left over from the car engine? It already looks faded. The metallic gold in the picture above would work much better.

aye 8 years stood was a while..... Laughing was run now and again but nothing major, i dropped the oil and changed the filter and plugs as soon as it was home (delivered in truck) the old oil filter was a bit seized on, good old chain whip had it off after some persuasion

no its just canned stuff so it was new. i think the light balance in the pictures makes it look that way tbh. in person it really is fluorescent. as said the colour will be changed for something not so obvious after xmas

i've been thinking about white too...after having white wheels on my car im unsure as they're a bugger to keep clean, however i dont think that'd be too much of an issue on a bike?!
