Yep, presuming what he said, I think you might find 'they all do that sir'.
I was thinking of getting this as a solution to my scored Nikasil, but the bike shop I went to said he has had a couple of these done now and have exactly the problem you are describing. He admitted he might have had an unlucky pair, but also said he wont get any more done now (lets face it, that is understandable). He said he wasn't 100% sure why it was having problems, but suspected it was something to do with the heat transfer of piston and liner. Perhaps that the piston is designed to expand at the same rate as a Nikiasil bore, you put a sleeved liner in there and it has a different expansion rate. Obviously if this is slower .... NIP!!!
As others have said, check the ports look to be correctly tapered, and it is the correct size piston/ring, but sadly you may well have found a 3rd example to add to this mechanics/shops growing list of 'it just does it' jobs!!  ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |
