 |

I bought a pair of US Army trousers from a shop under the impression that they were Gore-tex.
They're unlined "pant, cold weather" in woodland camo and have taped seams which also suggests water-proofing.
I've just worn them and after the water stopped 'beading' and running off, after about 20 minutes, the rain seemed to just leak straight through.
The label actually says 100% Nylon. Would the label have the trade-name Gore-Tex if that's what they were?
On US Ebay I've found various similar trousers some claim to be Gore-Tex and some don't. ____________________ TDM850

I've just done a search on the No.
8415-01-228-1420
It doesn't match up with anything I can find on the www.
I found this:
Trousers, Extended Cold Weather, Camouflage
MIL-T-44189. 100% Nylon (Microporus polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Gore-tex). Wind and waterproof, seat and knee patches, pass-through pockets, and inserts in the seams of the leg openings to allow trousers to be changed without removing boots. New for ECWCS.
8415-01-228-1336 to 8415-01-228-1352, non-consecutive for Woodland camo, and 8415-01-470-1944 to 8415-01-470-3768, non-consecutive for 3-color Desert camo. Also supplied in black or navy.
Maybe they're fakes.
I've just tested them with tap water and it seeped through almost immediately so they're not a Gore-Tex membrane.
I've emailed the shop. ____________________ TDM850 |
