It wasn't as easy as it makes out.

Step 4 is incorrect. I found that the data platter was heavier than the OS platter.

It was lucky I checked that or I could have screwed up my drive.

Not sure if it needs to be clarified that a great deal of salt must be consumed whilst reading that article... I can see someone actually DOING that! Cool

Bad advice. Spilling salt on the disc surfaces would scratch them and render the drive useless.

Of course, if you were to accidentally spill salt on a small portion of the disk you could simply cut the affected section off at the expense of a few MB.
