ALWAYS use at least a disc lock..... that being said - my bike got stolen with one on - they just pick the bike up and pop it into the back of a van
If you can chain it to something, it really is the only way - and even then, it may go. If it's only for a short time then a chain and disc lock is enough.
Currently, my baby is sitting with two beasty chains attached to a very solid car port in different manners (which prevent the old "Take a wheel off" trick), my disc lock, all locked behind a 6' fence with two padlocks and two bolts on..... and I'm still nervous and spent all night getting up making sure it was still there. ____________________ Avast! I at least always take one chain with me to leave on it when I go anywhere, through the wheel/frame and if possible, onto something solid/in the ground. ____________________ 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 K4 - Sex on wheels :>

I agree with the others, you shouldn't have shouted - just walk up to him and Twated him with you helmet!
As I have said in another thread, make sure you report it to the Police and get a crime number. If they don't know where these things are happening they can't do anything about them. ____________________ I spend all my money on bikes and beer, the rest I simply waste! |

mt50 yes? small cc trilies are the most stealable bikes arround..
disk lock or a grip lock perhaps? your going to have opertunists more than enything trying to have it away, a quick+easy to deploy lock is best as you will use it more often.
Best vehacle defence is an allarm + big stick i feel sorry for any poor fool messing with mine ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Wire up a primitive kill switch too? Just a hidden on/off switch in some unusual, concealed place, wired up to the battery.
Wont stop anybody picking the bike up, but atleast they wont be able to ride it off.
If you want to be crafty attatch a magnet to your keyring, and hide a megnetic reed switch in the tank Nobody would EVER find that killswitch. |
