1992 alcast jc20 ....just noticed this tonight.... i had a spare few hours earlier and after the sh*tty weather of late i decided to clean n mini service my bike... washed her all down.... cleaned the brakes with brake cleaner, lubed choke n throttle...toped up oils....etc. any way..... i took her out tonight and noticed a very faint vibrating ...or felt..... iv never felt this before, this seemed new. i am due a ring change, iv done 10 000 km s on the clock.... 6000 soming miles! my bike is nearly 19 years old so i was going to change the rings a little early than recomended, i cant see how it could av bin any thing i done earlier that day? lube cables and such!?? but what i did notice is a very, very, very slight weep , seems to be motor oil comin from the hole where the gear selector rod comes out of the crank case...and a little from the oil removal bolt too. im wounderin if that accient that happed the other week when 2 little sh*t c*nt pushed me bike over might have landed on the gear shaft and made a hair frackture or soming in the cranck case....i sertainly cant see a crack but thats a lot of weight to hit the gear shaft ay!!?? if iv bin loosing a little oil for weeks could this contribute to the vibratin im feeling??? i also noticed today, that iv never noticed befor that the manifold where the exhaust pipe meets the engine seems to be slightly ajar and not sit tightly parrallel , not split just ajar....with a gap of 5-6mm , dont know if this is new but could this also be the cause of the vibratin, if the combustion gas is leakin out before entering the pipe!!?? maybe the rings av just gone and im now gettin a little piston slap!?? dunno, the noise sounds like if you had a fan n held a piece of paper against it!!!! that sort of flappin noise...really faint though, n a faint vibration....? im gunna av a closer look at both tommorrow but any further help lads please, cherrs

i checked the exhaust n manifold and its solid so thats ruled out, that has always bin like that...... i took her for an hours fast run just now and still feelin this slight vibratin, best discribed as a flap noise say if your wearin a t-shirt on your bike and the wind flaps it rapid.... that noise but more mechanical obviously lol......... i did start noticing too that 1st n 2nd gear were gettin a little bit clunky to shift into and from...... i took a pick of the gear stem too, see the little drip comin off the point of entering the crank case...

DUDE.

Click 1. Then 2. Then finally 3.

Intro, body, and conclusion. Sentence structure my friend.

About your bike; if there is one thing i've learned, it's that when you hear funny noises that weren't there before, then you shouldn't ride it til you know what it is.

The noise you're describing sounds like something, somewhere, is rubbing or impacting on something else. It could be inside the engine or a different part of the bike.

Does the speed of the sound increase/decrease with the revs of the engine or the speed you're travelling at? Does it sound metallic or plastic or something else?

the gbox oil seal looks goosed but can it be replaced without splitting the engine cases ?, a drip from the gbox drain plug could be a fkked washer or no washer at all (they get lost) check the chain and outer engine cases and make sure the tank rubbers are o.k this will help eleminate any spurious noises .

Is the sound/vibration constant? I have this problem at the minute and i've been given some advice off here about it. My bike fell over in the wind months back, when I went for a blast on it there were vibrations and a noise at about 5500 rpm. It stops this before and after 5500 rpm. I was told on here to check the airbox for a leak. The exhaust to see if its fitted properly and to check the engine mounts. All could have possibly come loose when it fell. I haven't checked these yet but it might be worth a look.

The gearbox oil!!! I have no idea about that!! lol

check the exhaust thorughly, noticed a weird noise on mine last week was suspicious about the exhaust i took it off and a very small crack just after where it mounts to the head where the 2 halfs of the exhaust are welded together had split before the expansion chamber I could only see it when I held it up to the light looking down the pipe.I watched your video mine is 19 years old and sounds about the same as that!! lol
