You should have taken the M4, now THAT would have been amusing!! Wonder what the examiner would have done about it? ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.

For future reference for yourself or others. In that situation, the best bet is to make out you can't hear what they are saying on the radio.
In the case of equipment problems (such as the radio failing), they have to abandon the test. If the examiner decides to abandon the test, you don't have to pay for the retest.
From speaking to an ex examiner, if one ever offers to abandon a test following you doing something you know is dodgy, take them up on it. They aren't allowed to ignore a major fault but this can be their way of throwing you a bone if they reckon you ought to have passed.

In one instance I heard of a few years back where a learner went on the motorway during their test. The examiner stopped the test on the sliproad, got out of the car and walked back to the test centre. Left the trainee sat in the car by themself. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Sorry to hear that.
The day I took my module two was a bit of a joke as well tbh! The examiner was in the car, not a problem, but the first two guys who went before me, had no radio contact to the examiner! He told them to ride to point A, and then to point B, and then back to the test centre. After their rather quick ride, they had passed.
The guy who went before me though had radio contact but didnt go the right way and cut across lanes on a roundabout etc. He failed for this but was told that if he had rode it safely but going the wrong way wouldnt have been a problem.
Examiner wasnt the best though- forgot to ask me any questions, and tole me to go straight ahead at the roundabout, which actually was a junction with a big stop sign- not a roundabout
Best of luck for next time |

I nearly took a wrong turn and spend about 15 seconds hovering around slowing down traffic on my test because I couldn't hear my examiner's instructions. He had a VERY strong Scottish accent which was hard to decipher over the intercoms!
Better luck next time my friend. . ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

It does sound like hard luck - normally you would be able to make some move which meant while not following the examiners instruction was the 'correct' thing to do and therefore you cannot fail for it.
I also had my Mod 2 on Monday and blindly just thought about the route my instructors took me on - so when the examiners said "and I would like you to turn right at the top of the road" I put on my left indicator - luckily for me I could hear him and he clarified where he wanted me to go - one minor (for that bit anyway).
Earlier in the day the examiners had been carrying out the tests from a car - by early afternoon the wind had died down and the sun come out so back to bikes. I dont know if that put my examiner in a good mood or not, but I passed, so it made me happy*
Good luck for next time - and you'll never forget which lane leads where on that roundabout again

The riding school bike I did my test on had L and R written on the mirrors (and 'indi' in tippex on the dials)

Could you have not carried on around the roundabout and then gone for it a second time?
Either way, perhaps you could have stayed put and kept shaking your head to let them know the intercom was naffed, maybe he'd have changed his mind....
I cut across a lane on a roundabout in my test, in fact now that I think about it, it was pretty much exactly the same scenario, I was in thrid lane on roundabout and needed to get out so I cut across into the second lane and then off the roundabout. He gave me a minor for that because there was no traffic, however, he said if there had been traffic I'd have failed, so I was lucky in that respect.

I have always been under the impression when taking a test on a bike or in the car- what will happen is pretty much out of your control! As long as you have a good ride, theres nothing you can do about the others on the road and some examiners seem a bit harsh towards these other 'variables', such as the radio lol Plus theres that rumour that they are only supposed to pass a certain amount anyway ?
My other half failed his module 2 the first time for being too hesitant on a couple of roundabouts, trouble was if he had gone it might have wrong as well lol Just need that nearly perfect run lol
Best of luck next time |

getting your rights and lefts mixed up is really common, its a dyslexic trait , so if anyone asks you have dyslexia .
feel sorry for you that you failed, on my CBT i was bad enough, i didnt really know the area of city i was riding in, so i was always going the wrong way, strangely after putting a compass on my bike im much better, as i get a better over view of which way im heading, but in town doing lefts and rights i get all turned round, put me on a hill with a map, and im better than GPS , go figure
thats the biggest thing im dreading about my mod 2 , directions and going the right way as its quite a long ride, hope i get a nice examiner that is kind in the navigation department ____________________ Honda CG125 BR-S 1995 + cg125 W |
