I normally pop to the butchers and order a goose or a duck but didn't this year. Tried to order some shopping on Tesco's and all slots are gone, sod it if I'm going to go trawling up and down the aisles arguing with an old biffer about the last frozen turkey.
So, just ordered online something a little different.
Breasts of the following:
Mallard
Pheasant
Pigeon
Steaks of the following:
Buffalo
Wild boar
Venison
To cap it all off also ordered a reindeer steak too! Yes we will be having Rudolph for dinner!
Its only going to be me and the missus so no need for a monster bird. Just need to sort out the veg and we're good to go. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

I had reindeer steak in Stockholm and it was very tasty. It was served with an assortment of berries that are apparently native to the Islands around Stockholm. It was a pretty memorable meal, so I hope that yours is as good
This year I'm having roast duck for Christmas Day, that way I won't be eating left overs until the end of January!! ____________________ 'The core of a man's spirit comes from new experiences'

Lamb, I suspect.
They like lamb.
None of us like turkey very much, so we never bother.
Although I am hankering after a roast gammon, I've even bought the honey, depends on how ambitious I am as to whether or not both lamb and ham get made, or just one or the other.
Either way, we'll probably have it with roasties and some nice purple sprouting broccoli, maybe some carrots if I can be arsed peeling them. I like parsnips, they don't. We might have sprouts. I might have to take a vote on that, but I will have to do so before the day, cos I will need to get almonds or chestnuts.
This is spastic: I make PROPER home-made gravy from all my roast dinners, cos I was taught properly when I was young, but Anita likes gravy made with Bisto, ffs, where the fuck did she get a taste for Bisto, anyway? I never fed it to her, I'm sure of that.
Maybe some salmon mousse to start off with, I'm almost tempted to make them try something a bit more exotic, but I think they'll both eat that. If they don't, the cats will enjoy it, LOL
... and some [more] of these very nice Tesco cheesy biscuits that I just demolished half a packet of
And I'm still deciding about pavlova or cheesecake. Andy's already decided he wants trifle, so I'll make one of them, but whether Anita will put up with trifle, I'm not sure. She's not had pavlova for a few years, so she might get a bit toey if I don't make one this year but I'll sweeten her up with some mince pies and leibkuchen anyway.
Good thing I bought myself a mixer this year. I've tried one bunch of gingerbread already, it worked out not too bad, although the peppermint icing was a bit peculiar. I might have to make some more, cos its very nice, to have with coffee afterwards. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Turkey all the way - it's the one time a year I can justify cooking a decent amount of food, even if it won't all get eaten that day so might as well do it properly . |

We'll have pork, beef and lamb I think. Or did we eat the lamb the other day? |

Turkey and Duck for us, turkey is OK as long as the flesh is kept moist (can never type that word without grinning, I'm still 5 years old in my head), otherwise it dries out and is not good.
We've got the GF's family coming, as well as my 2 ankle biters, so it will be a full house. I'll do the onion soup starter but that is all, the GF does a mean roast, so I'll go and have a few beers and entertain the kids
Cheers

Lamb Dhansak for me
Our local curry house is open on Christmas day as the owner doesn't celebrate christmas (no price inflation either).
Beat spending hours in the kitchen & no washing up either. |
