I normally pop to the butchers and order a goose or a duck but didn't this year. Tried to order some shopping on Tesco's and all slots are gone, sod it if I'm going to go trawling up and down the aisles arguing with an old biffer about the last frozen turkey.

So, just ordered online something a little different.

Breasts of the following:

Arrow Mallard
Arrow Pheasant
Arrow Pigeon

Steaks of the following:

Arrow Buffalo
Arrow Wild boar
Arrow Venison

To cap it all off also ordered a reindeer steak too! Yes we will be having Rudolph for dinner!

Its only going to be me and the missus so no need for a monster bird. Just need to sort out the veg and we're good to go.

I had reindeer steak in Stockholm and it was very tasty. It was served with an assortment of berries that are apparently native to the Islands around Stockholm. It was a pretty memorable meal, so I hope that yours is as good Thumbs Up

This year I'm having roast duck for Christmas Day, that way I won't be eating left overs until the end of January!! Rolling Eyes

Vegetables.
I am going to my cousin's house ( how off my tree was I when I agreed to that gig?) so I guess I just get Xmas meal without the meat. I would rather be at home eating dahl curry.

Whatever 'im indoors decides to make, I'll eat, though I think it might be pheasant or partridge this year. He's a stunning cook so I'm sure it will be fantastic. The only meats I haven't liked thus far have been Kangaroo - too bloody and smelly and Venison - too strong.

Missus only eats chicken and bacon as far as meats go. So it'll be chicken dinner with bacon wrapped sausage for me, and bacon wrapped cheese for her. Roast potatoes, yorkshire puds are my favourite bits anyways!

Lamb, I suspect.
They like lamb.
None of us like turkey very much, so we never bother.
Although I am hankering after a roast gammon, I've even bought the honey, depends on how ambitious I am as to whether or not both lamb and ham get made, or just one or the other.

Either way, we'll probably have it with roasties and some nice purple sprouting broccoli, maybe some carrots if I can be arsed peeling them. I like parsnips, they don't. We might have sprouts. I might have to take a vote on that, but I will have to do so before the day, cos I will need to get almonds or chestnuts.

This is spastic: I make PROPER home-made gravy from all my roast dinners, cos I was taught properly when I was young, but Anita likes gravy made with Bisto, ffs, where the fuck did she get a taste for Bisto, anyway? I never fed it to her, I'm sure of that.

Maybe some salmon mousse to start off with, I'm almost tempted to make them try something a bit more exotic, but I think they'll both eat that. If they don't, the cats will enjoy it, LOL

... and some [more] of these very nice Tesco cheesy biscuits that I just demolished half a packet of Shocked

And I'm still deciding about pavlova or cheesecake. Andy's already decided he wants trifle, so I'll make one of them, but whether Anita will put up with trifle, I'm not sure. She's not had pavlova for a few years, so she might get a bit toey if I don't make one this year Rolling Eyes but I'll sweeten her up with some mince pies and leibkuchen anyway.

Good thing I bought myself a mixer this year. I've tried one bunch of gingerbread already, it worked out not too bad, although the peppermint icing was a bit peculiar. I might have to make some more, cos its very nice, to have with coffee afterwards.

Had roo many a time when living down under, makes a right mess when cooking it but when done right quite nice. They sold loads in the supermarkets as if beef or lamb.

Ariel, that curry sounds tasty and a refreshing change to a glutof meat for us carnivores.

We have the 3 bird roast from Aldi this year. and are having a running buffet all day. I have loads of nibbles like pigs in blankets, sausage rolls, spring rolls, prawns etc. We also have a gammon and a leg of lamb and some beef.
Just need to get the salad stuff

Turkey all the way - it's the one time a year I can justify cooking a decent amount of food, even if it won't all get eaten that day so might as well do it properly Smile.

Try adding some very fine black pepper into the mix. Or chilli.

Christmas day I'll be having leftovers from my Christmas lunch, which is, of course, eaten on Christmas Eve. So, gravad lax and whatever else I can be bothered to buy. I've got some sauteed reindeer (the only way to prepare it, none of this silly steak thing) in the freezer which I might have.

I'm surprised by the number of people not eating turkey on Christmas day. I thought it was the law?

Turkey is plain and boring. It is just like chicken but bigger.

Goose is where it's at.

If we weren't having goose it would be a big ass piece of Beef or Lamb.

Goose has a special flavour and is the original Christmas meal from England.

Turkey and Duck for us, turkey is OK as long as the flesh is kept moist (can never type that word without grinning, I'm still 5 years old in my head), otherwise it dries out and is not good.

We've got the GF's family coming, as well as my 2 ankle biters, so it will be a full house. I'll do the onion soup starter but that is all, the GF does a mean roast, so I'll go and have a few beers and entertain the kids Mr. Green

Cheers

Lamb Dhansak for me Very Happy

Our local curry house is open on Christmas day as the owner doesn't celebrate christmas (no price inflation either).

Beat spending hours in the kitchen & no washing up either.
