Have used earplugs for years now and wouldn't ride without them.
Did it once recently and my bike sounded like a bag of tits! Some lids are noisier than others too. ____________________ Don't do as I do, do as I say! |

I use them on long rides purely because my bike ain't too quiet and also my lid is bad for wind noise.
Its funny like you say, when I swallow I can hear like an air leak. ____________________ The BCF's very own Party boy! Though he's getting old and feeling it!

I've been wearing them for about 6 months now. You're right that they feel really weird the first few times you wear them. However if I don't wear any now it feels really loud and I feel kind of exposed
I've certainly felt the benefits though. Before, after a long ride my ears used to ring for a bit when I got home because of the wind noise. Not anymore with the ear plugs in ____________________ I've confused my intentions with my abilities |

I've only just recently bought some ear plugs. I find that I'm not affected by wind until 80mph+. Generally under 100Mph isn't that bad. But 100mph+ gets quite sore after a while. I only put them in if I intend to use the motorway or go on a long rideout.
Through town is a bit weird at first as you can't hear anything. One thing that did catch me out was the ambulance coming up fast behind me. Couldn't hear it. I did spot it in time in my mirrors though. Might not the next time though. ____________________ Honda NSR125R -> Suzuki GSXR400R GK76a -> Kawasaki ZX636 B1H -> Honda CBR400RR NC29 -> Nothing |

Hi
I find that they add about 10mph to the comfy cruising speed on the Bandit.
If you find your ears ringing after a ride then you have done them perminant damage . Crash helmets do vary with how well they protect you from wind noise, but they are pretty much on a scale varying from awful downwards.
As to hearing the engine, to be honest at lower speeds you can still hear plenty and at higher speeds you would not have a hope in hell of hearing much of what the engine is doing over the exhaust noise.
All the best

I wear earplugs all the time and have gotten used to them, to the point where riding without them seems loud and unpleasant. The NSR occasionally makes funny noises too, and I like it when the plugs drown these noises out - if i don't hear them i don't worry about them . ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/nsrandy/96rs250/ My Bike!

I normally try to use earplugs on longer jouneys, or ones where I've been on the TL as it's quite a loud bike. The one advantage I do have is the company I work for happen to make earplugs so there are lots of them around at work. They've just supplied £30,000 worth of them to Glastonbury festival for thier staff for the weekend . |

I want to wear ear plugs as my OGK is v loud and it's very uncomfy/annoying.
I can't really find anything that's actually comfortabe/stays in/cuts out noise though and don't want to spend £50 on a custom set, but i guess they are woirth it in the long run, hmm ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |
