Possibly because the indicators are not 'E' marked, or are less than a certain distance apart (I think it's 24cm). Couldn't find where it's mentioned though, but I have put it in another post somewhere...

https://www.motuk.co.uk/mcmanual_150.htm

Maybe just ring the test station and ask before you take it?

I have one for the gsxr. Clear one with built in indi's.

From what i've found out, they wont pass the mot, as the indicators are too close together.
So for the mot you could put the indicators back on and disconnect the led ones.... two wires.

Also with the clear ones, you will have to fit a reflector on to the number plate as the one i bought doesnt have them fitted.
The same goes for number plate light....

So you will need a led number plate light and reflector for it to pass the mot.

But i've recently taken back off due to the led brake lights playing up and the fact that a lot of people commented on that sometimes you cant tell which way im indicating as the lights are so close.

But they do look cool though Wink Thumbs Up

Yer so put standered ones on for m.o.t. and then see how the led ones work out, for the sake of 12 quid posted isnt a bad price for a rear led brake light Razz

Yeah ^^^ the ones in the original link are the ones i've got.
Looks really good,(esp when i had the flush mounted front ones as well) but after about a year the led's started playing up.
And again people said they didnt know which way i was turning from a distance.

Hi

Being legal and getting through an MOT are very different things. I suspect it will get through an MOT, but it might depend on the tester.

All the best

Mine are intergrated into the rear light, looks much cleaner, mine are quite easy to see and has passed 3 MOT's with it now.

Legal? If the indies are wired up, no. The distance between the indicators meet the legal minimum distance.

Pass an MOT? Probably as long as you go somewhere who is a little flexible.

Edit/

I have them on my current bike although not wired up. I had them on my ZXR4 wired up but used along with arrow head LED's so had 4 indicators in total on the back which went unmentioned at MOT time.

I was stopped by two bike cops.

One asked where my rear indi's were, I told/showed him the integrated light and he just said
"oh, ok."

Twas all good.

I've seen them get through an MOT ok, but doesn't mean they will in all cases.
In my experience, it does make it harder to see your indicators. Not a great thing to my mind, though something that plenty of people do still do anyway.

Again, just because one police-person lets it go, doesn't mean all will.
It would worry me most if someone crashed into you when turning and that was used as justification for it being your fault not theirs.

I think indicators depends on the original design of the bike for MOT. I've got various enduro bikes etc through with no indicators.

I had one on my CBR600F. It was made by BikeIt, it had a built in number plate light and was 'E' marked. Passed it's MOT with no problems.

Here's a video just for the sake of it. Laughing

My RR already had one on it but I'm going to be fitting some more traditional LED 'arrow' indicators and disconnecting the ones in the tail light.

I thought indicators are not required and one can just use hand signals? Am I madly misinformed?
edit: that vid, I would probably not notice you are indicating there :s or at least I would take a second to realise what was going on.

Indicators are compulsory (with a few exceptions for bikes designed for off road use) on anything from the mod 1980s onwards.

All the best

Just cos someone is a cop doesn't mean they know the law. And just because someone is a bike cop doesn't mean they know laws about stuff to do with bikes.

When I was 17 and on a ZX6R I was stopped by a bike cop, he thought it was the biggest bike I could ride until I was 21.

I've had them on 3 bikes, they were never mentioned at MOT time or when pulled by plod.

IMO they are just as noticable as the OE indicators, and on my 7R I'd say they were more noticable as they had twice the surface area of the original indicators.

The problem is not the surface area, but that it's a red light changing to an amber light that's next to a still-on red light generally.
A lot harder to see, I'd say, than something going from no light to an amber light.

If there's no tail light on, it can be a bit hard to work out which side is flashing if you're a bit of a way away.
