Is this all gonna blow over, or is the one eyed scottish idiot, going to lead us into another "crusade".
Admittably death was a bit tough seen as he was apparently a sandwich short, should they have mentally assessed him properly?
Knowing chinas stance, i.e not really well known for backing down, is this going to be the blue touchpaper lit?
Edit: Just found his great performance of his self penned world number one hit he was supposedly tricked to china to record with the promise of becoming a superstar.

It really doesn't matter. The dead guy is back in the real world, those responsible for his death will slap themselves on the wrist when their turn comes and be held back, by themselves, from advancing to a better world... ____________________ "There's the horizon! If Brown had his way Akmal would be punished by way of weekly visits by some bored PCSO whilst also getting free comfy government funded accommodation and benefits.
If we expect visitors to respect our rules, we should respect theirs as well, it's cold and yes it's a shame but meh, perhaps Akmal's family should be asking themselves how they let him get brought into the whole deal? Someone with severe bipolar disorder isn't going to be able to keep quiet when they think they are going to have 'fame' like that given to them ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |

It really is . They know that they can talk to us like that, or as they have done in the past kidnap our sailors and parade them on TV, and feel safe knowing that we'll do nothing about it. ____________________ Yamaha XJ600N |

Putting someone to death for carrying drugs is completely wrong, regardless of it's 0.01g or 1,000kg.
However, since in this country we expect foreigners to follow our laws, it'd be hypocritical to think that British people aren't subject to local laws when in other countries. It's quite widely known that carrying something through an airport for someone else is a really bad idea and that not knowing what's in the suitcase isn't a defense. He knew what he was doing, he knew that he was carrying a suitcase through the airport for someone else. It's not like the stuff was planted in his luggage, he knew perfectly well what he was doing.
Him being bipolar isn't really relevant. I don't think that it has any affect on peoples ability to make judgments and I'm pretty certain that it being banded about as an excuse doesn't do any favours to people who are actually bipolar. And if he was bipolar then how come he hadn't been diagnosed with it before his arrest? No proof was ever shown to the Chinese in the two years that he was in prison there. Pretty harsh that the Chinese say he should have provided the proof rather than them doing assessments, but if he was bipolar then there must have been some documents in this country (or America or Poland) in his medical records that could have helped support the claim that he was bi polar.

Then lives abroad on the back of the passport

Gets in with the drugs trade
Goes to China with drugs
Gets caught
Gets Dead. |
There's a bit more to it than that...
He moved from Pakistan with his parents when he was a child. Got married, had kids, moved to America and worked as an estate agent but the business failed so he came back. He then started a mini cab company in London where he sexually harassed a 24yr old employee and sacked her so she then got £10k from him at a tribunal, his cab company went bankrupt. He refused to pay her and he moved to Poland where he had another marriage and more kids.
Got divorced and was wanted by the courts in Poland for not paying maintenance to his ex. Whilst in Poland he got himself a 1yr suspended jail sentence for drink driving.
He fancied himself as an entrepreneur and was regularly going to the city council in Lublin with his new business proposals. He wanted to open an air-taxi between Lublin and Warsaw, he wanted to export lambs meat from Lublin to the UK, he wanted to build a mosque in Lublin in 2005 and this was his last business proposal.
The council didn't like his mosque idea so he started sending threatening text messages to councilors and to companies who hadn't wanted to give him financial support. After that came the terrorist threats, he emailed his bank claiming that he was part of the July '07 attacks in London, no charges were ever leveled against him.
Then he writes his song about a rabbit, gets involved with drug smugglers, got caught, Reprieve released the recording of his song and it was only then that they decided he's mentally ill. Now the timing could just be coincidence but I don't think so.
So that is the 'British' man that the fuss is all about.
His rabbit song would have made a better christmas number one than Rage Against The Machine and it would have been a much bigger 'fuck you' to Simon Cowell and X Factor if they were beaten by a song with such little musical talent.
The last Brit to be executed abroad was British-born Jackie Elliot who was executed in Texas in 2003 for a murder many say he did not commit. Clive Stafford Smith, the British human rights lawyer, fought a desperate battle to save him. Here he recounts the frantic last hours before the execution, as evidence mounted that he was witnessing one of the worst miscarriages of justice he has ever experienced.

Was our government criticising America about that in the same way they're currently criticising China? Of course not, Blair wouldn't had ever said a bad word about his best friend (and only friend unless you count Brown) in the whole wide world.

Upon reading Ste's post about his past life, I have retreated any sympathy for this man.
As for learning and doing like China, I agree to an extent.
We should bring back the death penalty for serious crimes because as we know our 'justice' system is pathetic.
Our prisons are over run, with ridiculous sentencing for minor crimes and major.
- 12 months for speeding.
- Caution and temporary expulsion for a police officer crashing and killing a due-to-be-wed girl in a pursuit.
Crime does pay. And criminals know it. They need a deterrent. Not a slap on the wrist if you're under 18. ____________________ "Let's face it, this is not the worst thing you've caught me doing."
