so here we are.... iv made a start on my hord of cagiva bits.....

i bought all these bits individualy and have already made a few mistakes, it turns out the earlier MK1-2 models use a SLIGHTY diff front end set up than the evos..... witch i found out today when i make-shifted the bike together.....the stereing damper sits in diff places on both models so has coraspondin diff fixxin points on the frames!!! oh!! so im either gunna have to buy a new frame or or go for a lawson MK2 model....shown in 2nd pic, rather than the sexy Decatui lookalike.
so far iv ad some good deals ...the rear shock only cost me £20 and the damper £15..... both off 2000 models..... forks were a resonable £55 n frame ,swingarm n subframe includin V5 £ 80 ..... in the 3rd pic you can see me problem with the engine fastener gettin in the dampers way!! do'h!!

so, the frame i got now is a lil worse for wear...some fairly big scratches and on the swing arm so it might not be a bad thing that im gunna change it..... if anyones interested in buyin it ill do resonable price.... as iv bin findin out today these MK2 frames are rare as chicken teeth.... not many people breakin down these classics.....

and if i cant find a frame in good enought nik ill prop get it powder coated... nice soft sheen black to go with the high gloss black fairings im plannin , thanks for reading lads...... ill post more as im goin

so, the fella i bought the MK2 frame off wasnt willing to give me a full refund n the cost of me shippin it back to him wouldnt of made it worth it....BUT he did offer me half the money back so i took it n im gunna try sell the frame . i found a beauty of a replacment on german ebay!! the frame was already polished, swingarm painted black and sub frame sprayed.... also kick stand n suspension linkege all in for £140.....with papers too!!! what can i say... i was lookin forward to the cosmetics of the chassis n that me self but for that price .... i couldnt turn me nose up, its a 2000 frame....

also bought a carb for £32 incl delivery........total spend so far roughly....£290

for the record, that is a MK2 frame. evo ones have fairing mounts on the main ''bars'', and dont have those 2 spikes by the headstock... i'd tell the seller it was your mistake, and apologise.

why are you using evo yokes and forks?
they wont fit. firstly, the damper mount on the top yoke fouls the tank.
secondly, the clipons are lower ,therefore meaning the bars hit the clocks when everythings attached.
and thirdly, the evo forks are shorter than MK2 ones, although better.

i made the mistake of doing this to mine. All is not lost though, and im modifying the evo forks to fit the mk2 yokes. this is done by milling the cast spacer on one of the forks (RHS iirc).

MY problem is, i dont have the mk2 forks anymore to measure the width of them.

if you can measure the width of the entire fork end on the MK2, and send me your fork leg, i can mill yours to MK2 spec in exchange for the info.

not much to report, crimbo and now all the snow has slowed me down. clearded out the shed so at least have some decent work space Very Happy nuts and bolts are costing me a small fortune and little brackects n washers etc that i dont have cos im building from scratch, a wreck of a bike could of been handy to pintch bits off! Razz wheels are being spryed in the next few weeks, my dad has a colour match machine in the office so i can get an exact match to the evo limited edition black and gold bike they done Very Happy sweet
the swingarms getting a spray too, was thinkin white maybe??? dunno?? or matt black/grey....
going for a black/white/gold combo.... should be sweet Very Happy gunna sray subframe myself , dont need to perfect. the frame needs a good polish too, so in the next week ill be preparing that for when wheels are off, my dad s got a mate at pro-tyres in solent , so after spraying he ll get the tyres put on there for me, he s got me a good price on those diablo H rated boyos!!
fairings all primed too, ready to go, ill wait till completion nearly though befor spraying those, or they just sit there getting dusty Smile bought an engine too, 2004 8000 miles £220, bargine i thought.... so ill prob only do a top end re build now, got a spare cylinder with better porting to put on her Smile full power jets and a open exhiast with giannelli end can...

I'd do it black with white 'trim' style bits, so white stickers/finishing touches etc. Itwill look more striking, I think black and gold is an old dated look and ruins modern stuff. Karma
