Chinese caf? racer

Wondered if anyone else saw this bike in MCN this week (not on their online edition for some reason)...

It's a 400cc air/oil-cooled triple, carbed, producing about 35bhp. Designed by an Aussie apparently, and currently in use in quadbikes. The bike could be coming to the UK, priced at around £3000.

Personally I really like the spec. The looks are perhaps a bit awkward, with the tank and seat unit being a bit modern for the rest of the bike. The only stumbling block is obviously whether they can get the quality issues nailed or not.

Would anyone take the risk and buy one?

TBH, it does look like it will rot in 20 seconds and the fairings look like they don't fit properly and I would just buy a second hand cg and spend the other 2.5k on a holiday.

Nonetheless, I've always wondered what a triple would feel like to ride, like; singles, IL twins, V Twins and IL 4's ect. all have their own feel to the engine. What kind of weird firing order does a triple use and how does it make the power delivery feel?

If you go off the quality that the seat has been covered, the rest of the bike will be awful.

I wonder how much it weighs. 140kg should be achievable and would be reasonable, sadly suspect it'll be a load higher than that.

Is that a swingarm made out of chinese steel tubing I spy?

If it was indeed 155kg or less with full fluids then it'd be interesting, but I'd never consider one without seeing a 2 or 3 year used example first.

It's a shame as if it was indeed well made and finished, that'd be a really interesting alternative to the CB/GS/ER5 commuters.

There's only one reason to buy Chinese - price. Even then they're usually false economy. Anyone considering lashing out 3 grand for one of these might be interested in some brightly coloured magic beans I have for sale
