Honda CG125 BR-T 1996 Chain Case

Hi All,

I have the above bike and have a question for anyone who owns or owned one.

I have had a problem with the chain case fouling the rear wheel. This happened during my Module 1 test so had to re-schedule it.

I discovered this started when I wheeled the bike backwards on the manual handling part - there was the tell-tale 'clacking' of something catching the spokes.

Anyhow, I've removed the chain case and found that the lower half was catching at the leading edge and pushed the top half of the chain case out of line and into the rear wheel when the bike was wheeled backwards.

I'd like to check the correct fitment of the upper half of the chain case. At the pivot end of the swing-arm, does the chain case fit inside or outside of the vertical plate that is part of the swingarm. Looking at the cutouts, I'd say it was the outside (case overlaps plate) , but this chain-case was previously fitted with it tucked inside.

I hope this description makes sense to someone who has or had a CG125. I'm planning on buying a new chain case which is about £50, so I don't wanna ruin it by fitting it incorrectly.

P.S. I've now added a pic to accompany the explanation. Highlighted in a yellow box is the vertical plate, which is behind where the screw-lug is mounted.

I would have thought the cover fits this side of the bracket, you could always take your test with the lower case removed.

BTW; That chain looks a bit tight to me Wink

The chain case has been dented in the past which makes it harder to see how it's fits correctly. Perhaps when I get a new one it be clearer on how it seats on the bike.

I have removed the lower half of the chain case and I'm running the bike like that for now.

This picture was taken when I first purchased the bike and the valve clearance, oil, chain, carburettor were being serviced. I'll check the tension but I think there's about an inch of play there now.
