After seeing 1930 Ariel's post on winning his 32mm Amal GP carb for alot less than he was willing to pay, I wanted to know what bargains some of you have had, and which seems to be the most popular category for bargains.

My best would be the TZR125 belly pan I got for 99p, in excellent condition in fairly rare colours. P&P was £10, but cost the seller £10.50! On the whole a good deal for me

Starter motor for my old Pug 205 GTi. Paid 99p for it, and the guy's postage estimate was out - cost him £8 to send it instead of the fiver he stated, so he actually lost money on it

I paypalled him an extra fiver to cover the odds because I felt guilty

I managed to buy a complete VFR engine including the rad and oil cooler for £10!

I got 3 early motocourse books for £140. I asked the seller to send then recorded and was told to pay extra which i did. 6 weeks later still no sign of the books and seller was ignoring my emails so i filed a claim. Paypay refunded my money so I forgot all about it. A few weeks later the books turned up, but they wern't sent recorded, just regular mail. Result.

Few hundred quid's worth of books (enough to fill my bookcase and more) for 99p. Guy lived really close (20ish miles) so just drove there and picked them up!

Best ever; as new Sidi Black Rain Evos for £84. The bloke was selling all his bike gear and forgot to list his gloves, so ended up getting an as new pair of £80 winter gloves chucked in.

Best this year; master cylinder and brake lever for my bike for £7.50.

EDIT: Just got an email off the guy saying he charged too much for postage so he dropped two pound coins INTO the parcel.

^ most of the above 'bargains' are for pretty obscure items or stuff without much demand.

if its on ebay, in demand, with a good advert it gets a good response/price... caveat being you get alot of twats wasting your time.

ebay used to be good but now its so popular the prices get bumped up. for me the best bargains are in the classified ads on the various websites on the net or now and again you get teh odd ebay classified advertised underpriced (sometimes that way for good reason i.e. fucked).

best 1 i've had was buying a bike on a certain website for £150 then selling it on ebay with 12 months mot (cost only the mot price to mot it £25) for £545.
