Just seen a advert on TV about the massons.

What do you think they actually do?
Do we have any on here?

From what I know of the masson's they send their kids to boarding school, and have plenty of money, with the abilty to shut down places.

if so, its a charitable old boys club, and they donate a lot to charity.

My uncle is one and is quite high up in his region.

His wife is high up in the girl guides association or whatever its called.

There are similarities between the two organisations.

He didnt have enough money to send his kids to private school, but his son has done well, so will be sending his kids to private school.

Funnily enough, my uncle on the other side of the family has the surname Mason, but isnt a freemason.

One of my mates is 'in it' along with his dad and most of his family.
Just last weekend I was quizzing them about it, No one seems to want to give too much away. (He didn't go to boarding school)

All I got was "It's a charitable organisation"
"We just meet up and get pissed"

Never get a straight answer from them, My old boss was in it too and he went to a boarding school, Although he told me that was because his dad was in the army..

Apparently women can't join And you can't ask to join, you have to show an interest.

Im a free mason, and the amount of miss understanding out there is laughable.

Its nothing more than a social club. We have set meetings where you take a part in it (these parts been your "office/rank" if you will) then basically you have a meal and a few drinks.

Nothing more than a social club mixed with a bit of amature dramatics. Yes there are morals in there and tbh the more you put into it the more you get out. You learn to speak in public, you make some good friends and there is always the comerardary that any group has (same as BCF).
The Mrs says its a posh mans working club.

We give stupid amounts of money to charities and individuals and very little is ever said about it, we give because we want to not for the recognition.

I am proud to be a mason and the guys that want to make out like its a massive secret are the reasons certain areas struggle and their lodges are dieing.

There are certain orders/side degrees which are only open to Christians and are not open to other religions.

I'm in main stream craft (consisting of 3 degrees) then a couple of the side degrees/orders.

Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, this is the first order you would join after becoming a master mason, but as with all orders this is purely up to you. For just about all other side degrees/orders you have to be in Chapter at least.

I am also in Knights Templar which is a purely Christian order and this itself consists of two orders.

The side orders etc meet a lot less frequently than main craft, however an improtant part of masonry is the visiting of other lodges and orders (that you are a member of).

If I so wished I could be out most nights of the week even though my craft lodge only meets 10 times a year (which is quite a lot), and my other orders only meet 6 times in total in a year between them.
