I had a D-reg Gamma 125 about 20 years ago. It was dreadful, but that was most likely because of the life of learner abuse it'd had.
Mine was derestricted and made about 25hp - not sure what that would be in kW. The motor appeared to be made of chocolate or glass. It was always breaking something. Seized solid on me at about 85 one day. I didn't even bother trying to sort it, I just flogged it to a mate as spares for his much nicer one.
Handling was good, brakes were decent, but the bike was uncomfortable to ride (like the whole of the RG/V family are ). ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

Thats it, this one was sporting, solo racing seat and the side fairings had been removed, leaving just the front windshield. |

Hi
UK learner limit used to be 9kW, hence the frame plate.
Had a go on one years ago. As standard they were the fastest 125, but don't think they were that pokey when derestricted compared to other full power 125s.
The bike was designed as an 80 with a 125 engine shoe horned in for some markets.
Skinny as anything and small. One I had a go on handled awfully (but think the steering head bearings were knackered and overtightened to compensate) while the brakes were pretty wooden feeling.
All the best

Don't get me wrong, in looks it's fuck ugly, but the sound, power delivery, and handling are beautiful. ____________________ Current: Suzuki RG 125 Gamma, Honda H100, Triumph Tiger 800XC, Suzuki SV650 (minitwin) |

I was sat behind one going through Bury a few weeks ago, looked about as thin as a pencil lol
I wouldn't have one by choice, but probably wouldn't be too disappointed if I had no choice ____________________ '84 TS50X, '91 TZR125, '89 CBR400RR, '91 VFR400R NC30, '98 R1

When I worked for Scottish Water I used to regularly go past a really tatty one in those exact colours parked in some random part of Glasgow. I used to always be filled with a mixture of nostalgia at the memory of how exciting a 2 stroke 125 seemed as a kid and revulsion at how they could make a bike with such an ugly fairing and then decide to give it one more whack with the ugly stick by putting those wheels on it ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

I agree with you there T0MMY, I too dislike the fairling (particularly the rear ones, they make me think of a towel has been draped over the side. The wheels look too brittle IMO it looks like they'd snap off at the hubs under particularly hard accleration. I'm sure they have their merits (handling, speed etc) but on looks alone, I would (and have) the TZR (if going for an 80's bike) or (if going for a 90's bike) the Gamma's little brother, the RG125r FUN, or a TZR125R 4DL ____________________ '84 TS50X, '91 TZR125, '89 CBR400RR, '91 VFR400R NC30, '98 R1

The 125 race reps in the 90s started to look pretty damn sexy but unfortunately I couldn't afford one at the time ____________________ ZX6R + CBR600RR |

You think you had problems? I could barely see over the pegs of the race reps in most of the 90's! being born in '91 has it's disadvantages sometimes ____________________ '84 TS50X, '91 TZR125, '89 CBR400RR, '91 VFR400R NC30, '98 R1
