hi guys

im wanting to balance my carbs and was thinking of using an auxiliary fuel tank but no idea what i can use

don't really want to use my tank incase it falls and gets damaged

what do you guys use in this case?

im thinking radiator overflow bottle?

or something like this: https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lawnking-Mountfield-GGP-SV150-Fuel-Tank-Re-con-18550143_W0QQitemZ160364357724QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Home_Garden_GardenPowerTools_CA?hash=item255675e85c

does it need to have duel feed or single?

bike is a Bandit 600 03 plate.

Thanks

If you want to throw away your money.

You can make one using a pen, a coke bottle and some Araldite.

I would have thought that any plastic container at all would be suitable like chives suggested. Maybe old milk bottles? I seem to have loads of those laying around Thumbs Up

I used a metal tin last time I done this, stuck it on the roof of my shed next to the bike and siphoned the fuel down the feed hose to get it started. Worked perfectly.

Did a 99 Bandit tonight.

Single feed into the carbs. The 2 pipes connected to the left of the tank are the fuel in and the vacume pipe. (connected to carb 4).

Thumbs Up

If there's a motor-mower repair shop in your area see if they've got a used fuel tank(with tap) they can let you have. Mine cost a fiver, just the job !. Very Happy

hi,
i have never bought anything that i can make myself.
i have 2 contraptions that only took at most 5 minutes each to make up.
my first one was a glass jar, the type that frankenfurters come in. (the tall ones)
just pierced a hole through the lid & shoved a lenth of fuel hose through it.
o-ring inside & out & some instant gasket/sealant round it for good measure.
as i was worried about the glass jar breaking , i made an other out of a fairy liquid bottle.the nozzle is coincidently the exactly the same diameter as fuel hose. (you just need to open up the actual hole a bit, with an awl or similar pointed object, if you want a good flow of fuel)
did no-one ever watch blue peter, lol
cheers,
GAZ

I made one out of a coolant overflow/reservoir tank that my mate gave me. It has a screw on cap for filling, a bottom hole and a top hole. I bought a length of clear fuel hose and a plastic petrol-proof tap on ebay for about ?5 and connected them to the bottom hole. The top hole is a vent hole so that the fuel will flow. I got a metal coat hanger from a local charity shop, cut it up and twisted it back together through the tank's mounting hole at the top - making it easy to hang up.

you overpaid.

water bottle filled with petrol. bit of hose from b&q. sorted. under ?1. i was going to use this method to get home from Leicester when my vacuum tap got blocked.

if you are quick you can quite easily balance the carbs using the petrol still stored in the lines

i was also thinking about this, cant i just use the fuel in the carbs and run it with no tank at all? I have a feeling i could balance them all before the fuel runs out, no?

My bike can run at tickover for about a minute with just the fuel in the float bowls, longer if I put the choke on.
