Well my dad put it in his scooter and rode it to work this morning, I haven't received a phone call so I can safely assume, it was fine |

There are all different colours of 2T oil. Golden, yellowish, deep red, mid red, pinkish, blue, green, torquoise. Probably others too. Long as the bike keeps going, I never worry ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

Oh well if you and your Dad have used Jaso FB in your scooters that's all the proof I need.
Fuck the oil companies who spent millions developing Jaso FC and FD. Conning bastards.
If it's good enough for lawnmowers it's good enough for my bikes as well.
P.S. Stowelly if you can stretch to it buy Castrol TTS (jaso fc). Have a look in the 2 stroke bike/oil thread and make your own mind up. |

Wow, intelligent answer.
My experience of owning 2 strokes for 30 years amounts to nothing afterall. Oh well.
However unlike you what I'm doing is advising not telling. The economic factor was also never mentioned. You just kind of added that in didnt you?
It doesn't matter what he rides. If you put in a more effective oil that protects and keeps everything cleaner and efficient then it's all good.
Just because it's low power doesn't mean all the internals aren't stretched. I don't ever recall a moped being started up, left to warm and gently ridden away. More like crank it up and rev the tits off it is the norm.
You, your Dad and Stowelly can put cheap shit in your bikes if you like. It doesn't bother me one way or the other.
Like I said before Stowelly, have a squizz at the other threads and make up your own mind. |

Elaborate on this then and give us some examples like I have done to back up my statements.

Yes, because not only if you use mineral oil in a low power machine do you not have all the problems you listed from my experience, but you also save money, and that can only be a good thing.

Yes, and never had any issues.
And I really can't see an engine in a low state of tune failing because you used mineral oil rather the semi-synthetic or fully-synthetic oil. Maybe the engine would wear slightly (and I mean ever so slightly) quicker than if you used higher grade oil, but the money you saved would cover the cost of rebuilding the engine, and that's if you even need to do it before you sell the bike on.

Cheap? Yes. Shit? The real life experiences that I have had suggest not. |

I know 4 strokes are completely different but I ran (and by ran I mean ragged everywhere) my CG125 on Morrisons Value Motor Oil (a whole litre for ?2!) for a while.
The CG engine is in a pretty low state of tune also and absolutely no harm came to it ____________________ will never give up his CG. I look at my fuel gauge more as a progress bar than a fuel gauge.
G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.
ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston? |

I use a JC rated Putoline oil in my Vespa, It may well be overkill, I've never had any problems, but it's only done 18k so I can't really tell.
The plug does always stay really clean and I do a lot of short journeys so I'd like to think the engine/exhaust is clean aswell, I certainly haven't noticed any drop in performance.
I don't sell my bikes and I'm to busy to be learning how to rebuild a 2 stroke engine that is soon to be obsolete.
In a lot of Asian countries they use 2 stoke oils that probably wouldn't even meet Jaso FB, but then again they ride in flip-flops and eat insects so aren't exactly great roll models. ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj
