being the lovely person i am, today i stopped for a bikey type in a layby on the A38.
wouldnt start, yam SR125, turning really fast so probably fuckall compression.
so i go home, grab my toolbox, chuck it in the car then come back.
spark out, theres 0 compressions at all. the kid says he's changed the top end a few months ago, so rather than strip the engine at the side of the road, i see if his valve clearances have closed up in some vain attempt...
inspection covers off, one side had about 4mm clearance (yes, i know, it ran like that...) and the other... the valve spring was all wobbly, so safe to say, a dropped valve. unlucky.
anyway, while all this has gone on, some pikey cunt has pulled up in a car, grabbed the guys lid and gloves, and legged it!
his helmet was about 40 meters away from where he was trying to bump it before i got there, but i saw a car pull up and pull away so memorised the plate, then said he might want to go and get his gloves and lid. (it was dark).
needless to say, gone.
police phoned, and hopefully the police will find the fuckers who did it, and get compensation out of them for his ''arai lid and alpinestars gloves''. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. Well in my biking experience, you should leave your lid on the floor behind your back wheel to indicate assistance required, then if your unlucky some cornish bumfuck comes along moaning about valve clearances .... ____________________ We all choose what to think about ... |

the worst bit is, people who own SR125's dont tend to have much money. it wasnt a very tidy bike, so obv well used.
its the guys only transport to get to college in cornwall from plymouth every day (about 20 miles each way, i went to the same college at 16).
so if anyone sees a red mazda, reg P678 KMO
please give it a kicking.
im thinking i might go rack up some speed tickets using that plate.
covdude. fuck the fuck off and buy a bike for 3 grand over the odds and build a birdhouse. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. If I were you (or the fella involved) I would contact your local MAG / other bike organisations, and tell them the car details and what happened.
If I had time, I would post it on all bike related forums..and maybe even make some signs and put them on random roundabouts around the area...
You never know, someone might find them and give them some just desserts, key their car, chuck some aviation fuel over the bonnet or something equally as damaging to paint. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

I'd like to say "well done" and have some Karma for going out of your way to help the guy, didnt have to, but did.
Helmet and gloves probably a goner even if Police do find the car owner,
I'm sure this bloke is now your "bike friend" (said in a The Inbetweeners manor). for life.

i only did it because old bikes piss me off and break all the time. You dont see gsxrs at the side of the road intact. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles.
