If bikes had bombs attached to the front of the them then there really wouldnt be many drivers pulling out in front of them, the fact they aint gonna get hurt makes all the difference and they seem to think with all our gear on we are protected which also brings me to another misconception and that is, if your riding to the left of the road for example in lots of oncoming traffic so if any move out to overtake there is more chance they will see you first and think again, anyway if your over to the left they assume your going slower and can stop safer than if you were in the crown of the road, there must be better education for drivers and stiffer penalties for not looking properly.

is an example of what I mean.

^^^This post will get ripped to bits, just you see.
Thankyou for offering no real help other than 'ride safe guys' and 'better education'.
Position for your best view when its safe to do so.
Expect the unexpected is also useless advice, but its what i try and do.
SMIDSY is the norm, not just for bikers but for anything that wanders onto tarmac.

You as a biker need to make a judgement call in these situations.
You know for a fact that you joined that main road from a side road, and the car driver would still be 'remembering' that there was one car coming then a gap.
The majority of drivers don't look again, to make sure a biker hasn't suddenly come along and filled that gap.
These are lessons you learn the longer you ride. Things you automatically consider, and make allowances for. I think most riders would have blipped their throttle, or perhaps hooted their horn, to alert the car driver that they were there. Or at the very least, slowed down.
You need to learn to ride around assuming other road users won't see you, rather than they should see you. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

A genuine SMIDSY would have given you little or no time to react. I suggest that the event in your video is an example of a much less dangerous, but more frequent and worrying trend that you could call a SMIDSY,BQFICGAF,IPOA (sorry mate I DID see you, but quite frankly I couldn't give a fvck, I'm pulling out anyway). ____________________ 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |

Just make sure your bike makes lots of noise (Race can/system, louder horn).
I found that you could start telling who was about pull out on you little tells such as how close they are to the junction paint on the road, if they car is nudging (driver on the clutch biting point ready to move quickly), head past steering wheel looking both ways quickly.
Then just slip the clutch/press horn so they know your there.
Although wont help all every time as some car drivers arn't that observant  ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

If you had time to beep your horn and flash your lights then it really wasn't all that close was it!!!
Yes they did pull out on you, but it was a 'you tw4t' moment ... NOT a brown trouser one ... ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

I think the OP has set a new forum record for flouncing. From 'hi ya' to 'I'm never coming back' faster than a speeding bullet ____________________ "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." Hunter S Thompson

True. But then again, not all of us are patronising, preachy blowhards with finger-wagging videos on facetube lecturing everyone on BCF about other road users... |
Agreed mate, I dont think that:
1) Join forum.
2) Hector existing members about the dangers of riding ( Like we dont know that sometimes cars pull out in front if us).
3) Get a cobb on cos someone dares to contradict what you have stated (even if you have been riding since methuselah was a lad, experience doesnt necessarily imply skill - ask my wife)
4) Flounce off like Zsa Zsa Gabor.
Is necessarily a good system for putting your point across. ____________________ "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." Hunter S Thompson
