Just been given one, am yet to pick it up. Tell me about them? I know it's a 750 shaft driven triple, and quite ugly, but still... any info appreciated.

cheers

Thumbs Up

I had one whrn they were (relativly) new.

Yams answer to the GS850 shaft if I remember right. I loved the engine, the rest was 80?s crap handling but who cares if its free. I?d love to have another to play with but my garage is full of other crap, lol.

Enjoy

I had one way back when. Pay attention to regular oil and filter changes and dont use cheap sh1t oil either. IIRC the top ends are known to be weak, mind you it was the bottom end I mullah'd on mine Sad
Put a nice short pipe on it, the engine note when the revs get up a bit are an absolute joy.

The handling was, if anything 70's.

It was old hat by mid 80's standards!

Anyhoo. Treat the old girl to a new set of bearings all round and it will handle OKish.

Picked it up yesterday. Pretty good nick, only 12k miles. Seat needs cutting down, other than that and the brakes need a rebuild, all seems good.

Alright it's not that ugly. Just not the kind of bike I'd opt for normally.

Cleaned up the points yesterday and now it has a spark on all three. Unfortunately the plugs are well buggered and only one works, so I shall have to nip and get some more before it should start.

It's alot tidier than I was expecting. Be interesting to see what it goes like.

I see the brakes are simillar to those fitted to the RD250 and 400E...shite! Might be worth trying a modern master cylinder if the front brake really offends.

From that picture it looks like it's already had a different master cylinder put on.

Never ridden one of these..... although i did own an XS1100 back in the mid 80's.
If it handles anything like that, then be afraid.... be very afraid.
