Carb issue.

I've lost the bolt that screws the petrol pipe lug thing onto the side of my carb, I can't find a replacement online and can't get to the shop to get a new one, since the carb is firmly fastened back in the bike and it's taken me 3 weeks to get it back in there.

Ideas?

If it's what I'm thinking of it's called a "spigot", not sure if this will help your search at all.

Sorry chaps, I presumed since I've had one bike for 3 years and banged on about it some might have remebered at some point.

I've got a bolt for it now, yes Mark it is a Dellorto. My problem is now that I'm missing some seal thingy instead, I got a bolt from B&Q after much size comparing and being stung hard(robbing cunts).

I've got it all tightened up etc, but whe I turn fuel tap on it leaks... it leaks with so much that there's no fuel getting through the carb.

It's a Honda NS125R, I'm near Leeds and it's pissing me off.... again. I might be able to get something bodged for it tomorrow, if not il be after more inspiration cos getting hold of a seal for a carb isn't a everyday task.

Try sending the service dept of www.fowlers.co.uk an email or give them a ring, they stock/source parts for loads of bikes esp Honda.

Or, email david silver spares, they're pretty good too

It uses a fiber washer to seal, not a o-ring. What happened to the original?

I have one on a knackered nsr carb. Its just a m6 bolt with a little washer.

You can get the fiber washers from maplins i think, they use the same kind of thing to insulate mother boards.

Failing Maplins, suspect Halfords will have a box of assorted fibre washers for not a massive amount.

It's not quite like in the pic above, it's a seal about the size of say, a 1 pence peice and as said, seals the fuel pipe connector as it bolts to the side of the carb.

It's the same as the bit on this, to the left of each carb..

Hi

There is normally a circular filter under the banjo shaped piece, but not all carbs had them. Ones used in the NSR often don't seem to use them (and not sure about the NS).

I think they just opened a Maplin's at Clifton Moor here in York, may pop along tomorrow if time is allowing but with the unit's up there, you can barely swing a cat so stocking such trivial items isn't likely.

Failing that with the Leeds branch gone (afaik) hell knows where to go...


I'll get a decent pic tomorrow in the light when I don't risk frostbite.

Whatever it is, try your local pound shop. They usually stock assortments of things like that.

Got the filter, worked a treat.

Now the annoying part. It has a leak, 99% sure it's petrol but thre's no leak from anywhere that contains petrol (carb etc).

The leaking comes off the bottom of the engine, if I put the bike on the stand it favours coming out of the alternator cover which is bolted on in a way I can't get off myself (due to fairings etc). My worry is, big end bearings. If these were gone, what's the likelyhood of petrol running through the engine and out the bottom, without any parts moving? Piston rings would provide a decent seal in the barrel for a start; surely?

I swear at this rate it's good for nothing but a scrapyard ornament.
