Use garage, get a quote - then instead of taking up online, call and speak to an advisor. It shouldn't be a problem.

As for cover away from the house - yes, it's fine to leave on the road when not at the home address (or in vicinity of)

people have posted previously that storing your bike inside your house invalidates your home insurance.

never worried me about my insurance stating garage and then leaving it outside a tent when away or on my dads driveway, policy normals says something like excess double if stolen on policy address and bike not in the garage as stated etc.

Yes I think he could understand you're not asking for home insurance, the point he's making is that storing a bike in your house could invalidate your home insurance but something tells me you probably don't have any so I wouldn't worry.

Bike inside the house is the same as storing petrol in it, not allowed sometimes.

At my old address I used to store my bike in an outhouse kind of thing. It wasn't a garage or a shed or anything more like a coal bunker. I used to choose the option "A locked building" or something like that.

Keeping it in the house will not be appreciated by your house insurance or your landlord if you renting.

My dad has letters off his landlord when he found out my dad was storing his bike in the kitchen. He wasn't that happy about it but said aslong as he put some cardboard under it to protect the floor then it would be okay.

If it's a rented property then the landlord will have buildings insurance and that's what you could be invalidating by keeping your bike inside so you should check with them.

Keeping the bike in a shared hallway is unlikely to go down well with any of the other residents. Laughing

Home insurance recommendations, I've used Prudential previous and they were good with no hassle when claiming. Am with M&S now because they're better priced and the policy details are better.

I bought the R&G cover and am not that impressed for the price. It does look good and is pretty durable but it has a pointless pad running over the tank/seat area (no soft lining - just padded) and where it goes over the tail mine has actually started to rub paint off from flapping in the wind. Bungees helped (once i realised it was happening!) but when spending good money on a cover i dont expect to have add extra bits myself to stop it damaging my bike!

I would either save some cash and get a cheaper one or spend a bit extra and get the dearer oxford one with the soft inner liner.

What you are suggesting is unlikely to be allowed because it'll be in a fire escape route and considered a fire hazard itself due to petrol (and no draining the tank is not adequate), it'd also be an obstruction. Your neighbouring tennants will also moan.

I'm confused as to why taking a strimmer to a garden was going to cost your landlord 10-14 grand? it's not like you landscaped it, you just hacked down a load of brambles and overgrown grass.

As has already been said storing the bike inside is a no no, more so due to it being a multi person residence. It will invalidate the insurance held on the building and causes access problems and a fire risk.

Why not just buy a shed or a metal bike storage box and stick it in the garden?

Its not just the possibility of your neighbours complaining that you should be worried about, it is the fact that you are placing them in potential danger....the fact that this does not seem to register with you does explain why you have required so many user names Rolling Eyes

My nsr was stored in the outhouse which was attached to the house, give it five minutes after parking it up and the kitchen stunk of petrol. I loved it but nobody else appreciated it lol.

Noted, and Kwaks don't come the cunt, i've asked on here to get the correct advice and way forward .. as i do with most things ... and now i realise it's not such a good idea after all ... the area will be used now for workspace, now the Viv has gone, and after the safety inspection i'll put the coat racks/hooks back up ...

Thanks to those who helped with the legalitys of it .. Thumbs Up Smile

As usual you are given solid advice in the early posts and continue to ignore it right until the end. It was a stupid idea to start with and you were told this (politely) and the reasons why. Yet you continued to try to justify your "idea" and indeed try to argue why it would work, including disregarding others concerns for the safety of other residents. Pretty obvious who the cunt is in this thread Rolling Eyes

Thats what i told my insurance when asked. She asked if it was a wooden shed, And when i told her it was a brick shed with a solid concrete roof and lockable door with an alarm she said it is virtually classed as a garage.
